That is why I and others are desperately advocating for the Chargers to trade for a veteran receiving weapon.
Given the circumstances... how would you have done it?
Do you really think Dionte Johnson will ressurect the whole offense...?

Yes, the price to trade up from 34 to 11 would have been steep, next year's first rounder plus multiple other picks, possibly from this draft, but then we'd have a franchise LT and a generational talent at TE.
What do you think it would have taken to trade back into the 1st round @#11...?

I don't know if I would've traded Keenan Allen. But if I had traded him, I would've tried to get Tyler Boyd over Chark. Boyd does not have the injury history Chark has, and he has been more consistent. My strategy would have been to see how the new. largely young and inexperienced receiving group is developing early in the season, and be ready to trade for veteran receiving help if they struggled. IMO, Hortiz's mistake was relying on both Chark and Hurst to be integral components in the passing game, given their injury histories. Chark hasn't played and Hurst hasn't played much, due to injuries.

I believe Johnson would change the dynamic of the passing attack, he would be the Chargers #1 receiver, defenses would have prioritize accounting for him, forcing DBs to spread their coverage more thin, creating opportunities for other Chargers WRs.

The Chargers' 2024 2nd round pick and 2025's 1st and 2nd round picks. Possibly more.

So Ladd, McConkey + our 1st rounder and 2nd rounder for 2025...?

Well, if you're keeping KA... you can't sign any of the FA's we picked up this off-season.
Personally, I'd rather have Fulton + Ford + Perryman + Dobbins + Chark (all signed for generally the same amount as KA).

Tyler Boyd doesn't move the needle for me.

Or what could you have got to move nback from 5 to 11 or 12?

It wouldn't be cheap, but we'd have Joe Alt and Brock Bowers in one draft.

I don't, and he doesn't have the best hands either. Id rather have MW , but of course he has to stay healthy,..... Which, incidently Johnson likely isn't playing this week.

I saw on X some mention Metcalf lol....why TF would Seattle trade him? They are in first place!

I do like the idea of getting TE Evan Engram from Jax if they can swing it.

His cap hit would be good this year and he is signed for 2 more years and his cap really jumps up next year , then goes back down in 2026. They can tweak it.

As a run blocker he is about as adequate as Kincaid. Dynamic receiver though.

The stats back you up, his catch percentage was in the 50s his last three seasons.

My only reservation about MW is he's still recovering from major knee surgery, he was never the fast, is he even less fast? Is he able to play at 100%?

Durability bro. The last 5 seasons he only missed 1 game. Catch rate in time span is also in 70% range.

I don't know that his knee is a problem now as much as he did miss much of TC still healing a little more and not getting familiarity with the offense and especially Rodgers.

He does have to learn our scheme, which evidently is a little complex but he does know Herbert and his tendencies and they have some chemistry.
