They said they were moving Pip to OG and some here saud he should go to OG. That isn't some revelation. He had a pretty decent sized dead cap to cut him last year.

The fact he won't be starting this year isn't a surprise either.
In fact if he is on the roster this year that would be a surprise.

Another surprise was him moving to OG and he was worse. If he is a swing tackle when it is all said and done, cool but he won't be here in 2026.

I'm not sure he'll be on the roster THIS year and I'm certainly not claiming that he will, but when a guy plays a premium position, even and average player like pipkins has value and you don't just cut him, I think the smart play by Hortiz here is to hold on to him until right before the season starts, training camp injuries happen, they could happen to one of our guys or they might happen to someone else, at that point I could see them trading him to a team desperate to fill a hole at RT...it's all about leverage and timing and Hortiz has already shown that he knows how to maximize value on players...

so I'm neither advocating that he be our swing to get a compensatory pick back in 2027 nor am I against him being traded in the summer for a day three pick in the 2026 draft, but at least they are being smart about how they approach this, Pipkins is going to net us draft compensation one way or the other because of the demand for experienced OTs around the NFL...

There are some weird parallels between (1) Foley getting shot by Mansker and replaced by Phillips, and (2) Tyrod Taylor getting 'shot' by the team doctor and replaced by Justin Herbert.

-- In both cases, the event happened within the first two weeks of the season.

--In each case, the injured player never took another snap with the team.

-- In each case, the replacement player went on to achieve more success than the man he replaced.
