I don't know, I can see Colson making a Henley like jump in season 2. I like Perryman but he always get dinged and would be better served in limited snaps. I also expect Alt to make a jump this season. He just turned 22 in February and what he was doing last season as a 21 year old was damn impressive. He is just going to get stronger the older he gets.

Slater will get signed soon, if not it will probably be a Derwin type "hold in".

Only two or three second round picks have signed and they all got their contracts fully guaranteed. that is the hold up.

Slater is signed but not to a new contract extension. It is expected to get done shortly. So they say.

Harris is allegedly holding out for more guarantees, like a fully guaranteed 4 year contract as 1st rounders get.
Picks 34 & 33 started the full guarantee ball rolling. Picks 35 - 64 have not signed. Harris is #55 and is the only declared holdout, I think.

Detroit plays in the Hall of Fame game and they are reporting tomorrow - so Tate Ratledge could be in the same group as Harris. Primarily teams report July 19 - July 22 --so those second rounders have a bit of time before they are classified as holdouts.

I hear Rice has a voodoo doll of MW and sticks pins in it at night.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
              Let’s win one for Mack.

I think Hortiz is going to have to bite the bullet and make a trade for a WR unless a couple of the young WRs catch fire in TC. No way you can count on MW making through the whole season. He is a shell of his former self.

Over four professional seasons, Rashawn Slater of the Los Angeles Chargers has developed a reputation as one of the NFL’s better young offensive tackles. Per Pro Football Focus, the 26-year-old allowed three sacks in just over 900 snaps a year ago. He graded out at that site as a top-five player at his position across the board.

Slater was at mandatory minicamp, and he told reporters that he’s not overly concerned about his contract situation.

"We'll see," he said. "I think, you know, my agent obviously is having those conversations on my behalf, so for me I'm just focused on training and whatever happens happens. To be honest with you, just going to continue training. All of that, kind of haven't really thought that far ahead. But obviously my intention is to play this year."

However, Joel Corry of CBS Sports (a former agent) expects Slater’s next deal to reset the market at his position.

“I guess the Chargers & Rashawn Slater aren't close on a new deal,” he said. “At a minimum, Slater should be the 1st $30M per year OT. There really should be a massive reset of the OT market. The highest paid edge rusher shouldn't be making 42.22% more than the highest paid OT.”

Slater’s injury history may well be why the Chargers are uneasy about backing up the Brink’s truck—he has missed time in three of four pro seasons, including a ruptured biceps tendon that wiped out most of his 2022 campaign.

But elite offensive tackles are worth their weight in gold.

And Slater weighs about 315 pounds.

Projected Contract: Four years, $120.5 million, $84 million guaranteed.
Slater isn’t going to get cheaper. Sign him now before he’s a $35 -40 million a year man.

Wirfs and Sewell were the baseline for Slater. With the cap going up -- Slater at say 140/5 -- was reasonable as Wirfs was at 135/5 I believe - or thereabouts

I don’t think he’ll want that 5th year as salaries are going up quickly. That might need to be 5/160 instead of 4/120.
