He is a legit top 15 talent IMO. He was 4th in DROY voting in 2022 and had a stand out soph season. He's only 25, his lack of production the past two seasons can be attributable to factors within the Giants like Oweh with the Ravens. For a 4th the Chargers would get a bookend to Tuli that would make one of the best edge duos in the league for a long time. They could fill that need for a pass rusher for a 3rd day pick and use their day 1-2 picks for other purposes. It makes sense to me.

Thibodeaux has missed 12 games the last 2 years. His 2024 tape is as good as 2023 (the 11.5 sack year) ... he missed 5 games.

On a one year contract? This is his 5th year, so he will cost a bit this year as a 1rst rounder.Originally posted by Velo View Post

If this story is true, I think its more fan blogger and not an actual real trade - but if true, same thing as Oweh, $14m for one year and you have a decision next year. In this case, just draft the Edge player. Keep the pick.Originally posted by powderblueboy View Post

You can always improve any room in the draft, especially if you are following the BPA formula. But the Chargers have left themselves with much bigger roster needs than LB and have only 5 picks so i just can't see drafting a LB.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post
I think the LB room is fine. What would be a "good" solution if they only keep 5 is that Colson beats out Perryman. Or if they keep 6, Colson plays well enough that maybe Perryman is inactive, signed to the PS for depth.

just have a hard time fathoming these repeatedly absurd posts, and…. based on what exactly ??Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

this is the reasoning, or lack thereof, that leaves a roster in shambles…. are we still hoping for a 7th WR ??LB CJ Allen, LT Caleb Lomu, OC Parker Brailsford, RB Demond Claiborne, TE Justin Joly, NT Dontay Corleone, OC Bryce Foster, CB Josh Moten, LB Eric Gentry

Are you saying its absurd to think Colson will make the jump to being a contributor going into his 3rd season? This has merit - Colson has done nothing in two yearsOriginally posted by beachcomber View Post

Or, are you saying that if the 3rd round pick plays to his potential in year 3, combined with improved play from Wax and Phillips, thereby putting Perryman on the bubble - would be a bad thing for the roster?
As for the 7th WR -- the room can be improved from last year -- Ladd is good, QJ, improving, the other four haven't shown enough to say the room can't improve.

We definitely should try and dump QJ for a burner deep threat wr!Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

8 to 9 TD seasons from QJ fine! But he has not been good enough in every other area especially being a first round draft pick. Time to upgrade.

I'm accepting of the idea that the BPA at #22 could very well *not* be an interior o-lineman.
There are different directions that Joe Hortiz could go in this circumstance: BPA might be a Front 7 Defender, in which case, problem solved!
The *problem* comes if Joe's Board has a BPA who plays a 'less necessary' position, in terms of the Chargers' specific needs. Say, for example, that Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq is that guy.
If- in this scenario-- Joe Hortiz took Sadiq, the reaction on this forum would be chaotic, and range from rational to cataclysmic.
All I can say is that Joe has made solid picks the majority of the time. If Sadiq (or other lesser-position-of-need guy) is the choice? I'm not going to have a cardiac event over it. I would trust that Joe is not an idiot and knows what he's doing.
Besides, if Joe chose poorly? I can always have my cardiac event later.
