I'd be concerned if the franchise QB wasn't mentally or physically able months after season's end. No injuries or surgeries that I'm aware of. We all know Herbert is book smart. Not surprised he can learn a new playbook quickly. But book smart doesn't always translate to the game

Be worried if there’s no context to last season, and if this was mandatory. Until then, let the guy live. He already showed up at the beginning of OTAs when he didn’t need to. Probably got the okay from everyone, like Harbaugh and McDaniel, to head out. And it makes sense too given that McDaniel also isn’t there.

After the beating he took last season is this a new mindset? Did it change his love of the game? Its pretty messed up when you go on to say you have to protect him as your priority and then he gets sacked and pressured as much as he did last season. I guess that could mess with your mind! I hope we are not looking at the beginning of Andrew Luck part two. Look at who we signed on the Oline after last season? We drafted OG's in the 6th round? And a center to play OG after never playing it in college. WE'll see what Herbert has to say when he does his next presser. You know Popper is going to grill him on this!

Also with regards to Andrew Luck, it was a culmination of being injured so much due to poor protection and him feeling the pressure to rush back from an injury that caused further damage. There’s a great Athletic podcast about the entire situation.

The other guys haven’t shown the level of play that Herbert has over the years. Nor did they endure the amount of hits that he did last season while never missing a game.

Edit: also other players like Mack have skipped voluntary OTAs before. Key word being Voluntary, which means Herbert is having fun on his free time. Not the company’s.

I don’t think it is 2c of difference by the time June and I don’t think he’s the only player to miss some Phase 2 drills. It’s not OTA, it’s not organized 7x7 or 11x11, they are not installing any offense and their OC wasn’t even there. Its nothing to me. It will all be fine.

Because their wives or girlfriends are not pop stars on her biggest international tour providing Herbert the chance to support her while on the trip of a lifetime over a few practices and drills?

Certain things in life other than football matter. Was it ok for Charlie Kolar to miss 2 weeks of OTAs including the more important phase one with MM starting installs because he wanted a honeymoon with his new wife?

It's a mind set that's not football specific. Tom Brady? Maybe a good example. Superstar model wife. Didn't miss voluntary OTA's until he was maybe 18 years in and had a collection of rings. If Herbert gets there I would gladly say take any time you need young man!!!

Next week will be interesting. As much as I have been understanding and supportive of Herbert taking in the first 2 weeks of her tour, I hope tonight in Paris is his last show and he flies home this weekend to be here for May 26-27 when they run 7on7s and 11 on 11s which seems more important to be there for new offense and new team mates
