We deliberated all summer who would make the roster as the 5th Edge, or take Bud's job....Kennard or Tucker. And neither of them even make the PS.

Just wild. Maybe Kennard is injured and would likely not play for awhile. Tucker was paid something and I wonder if a PS spot opens up that he might come back.

I guess preseason games matter...we heard both were doing well early, even quotes about established players heaping praise on how improved Kennard was and how Tucker was schooling our Tackles in practice...but then the first preseason game rolled around and nothing from either guy, nothing but disappointment...now they're both completely off the team...

if they bring him back to the PS when a spot opens up, I think the reason will be coach O'Leary and because they think he can still improve...250k by todays standards is a drop in the bucket of cap space...it's just not significant, more like operating costs type deal...

Time to move on. We're going with Dupree as the fourth guy this season. I think Hortiz and Harbaugh will look for an upgrade there next offseason. I'd love to see Mack get 10-15 sacks this season and become motivated to return in 2027, but I think he will likely have to replaced next offseason.

The edge rushers, as always for me, are the main focus for me while watching college football this season.

I was hoping Tucker or Kennard would exceed the Dupree bar - alas, didn't happen. Both are off the team. Just move forward. I mean, Kennedy didn't make the team but a UDFA like Spomer did. TeRah Edwards and Avery Smith, two UDFAs are bringing back draft picks. Colson is still with the team - maybe he finds something this year. If not, so be it.

I was too. Mack went out of his way to say how improved Kennard was at the end of one of the mini-camps, but clearly something wasn't working, physically or mentally.

The 250k for Tucker and Barton were like you said, just calculated gambles

Isiah World was different - they knew he was going to be on the NFI and cost them the pro-rated amount for UDFAs to be on IR - I think its 550k. But that was also a good gamble. He has a year to see if he improves, gets healthy and will be ready for OTAs in the Spring - but still in the building. Even if he can't practice while on IR - -hopefully he is learning and watching

Tucker and Barton, same thing, took a couple swings and missed. But Wax, Spomer, Shelley and even Edwards and Avery Smith were UDFAs that stuck. Thats a pretty good record
