In defense of Roman….numerous times at the beginning of the season he said it would take a few games to figure out what works and what doesn’t.

It was a rough start for the offense but the trajectory has been pointing north for the past 4 games.

Exactly how Roman forecasted it would go.

3 out of 5 position changes on the OL. Complete overhaul of TE’s and RB’s. Top 2 WR’s gone and rookie WR1. New FB.

Throwing spitballs at Roman may be due at some point but not now, IMO.

PS I LOVE Harbaugh, Ficken, Minter, and whoever is coaching up our DBs. Just...not Roman.
Kellen Moore left here and went to the Eagles, where he has the #5 offense for yards per game and #7 in points per game.

So the question is, just like with Roman, is it the players or is it the scheme? Did Moore suddenly learn how to coach after leaving here? Or did he go to a stacked roster? If the Chargers had the Eagles skill players, I bet Roman's numbers would look a whole lot better here. Since I expect that we will upgrade our skill players this next offseason, I expect our offense to improve. WAY too early to make any judgements about our OC.

The TPB crowd turned sour on Moore fast, but I’ll not forget half this crowd wanted to make him HC lol

And somehow Kellen was allowed to leave the Cowboys before coming to us. Roman resigned from the Ravens as an OC. Lombardi was never an OC before or since. Sure, skill players play a huge factor, of course. And Kellen was one that I wasn't immediately down on when he came to us (after all, he'd won with Cooper Rush filling in). But my reserved skepticism soon gave way to despair as I quickly knew Moore wasn't the guy we needed. I just want Justin to have a guy who can design creative passing schemes and outwit an opponent's weaknesses (and avoid their strengths).

I'm leaning toward better assistant coaches and C. Our O was a mess with a lot of guys who are playing well for Roman. And Moore, he didn't install his offense worth a crap.
Playing for a real HC apparently makes a difference.

True and it was our OL and TEs who couldn't block. Ekeler having no holes and two sprained ankles.
Still, some of his plays got blown up and in spite of popular demand, I never wanted him to replace Staley as HC. Moore wasn't ready. Not saying he is now either.

                  His play-calling still bores me.

During the Brady Patriot years were they considered an exciting offense from a play calling perspective? I always thought they ran basic plays, capitalized on big plays off play action, ran the ball well, and took care of the football.

The only thing I don't like about our offense this year is the 3rd quarter slumps. Every game had the potential for us to blow out the other team.

There is nothing like being close or ahead at halftime, then to come out and have a nice long TD scoring drive that not only builds the lead, AND dramatically shortens the time on the clock. Our offense has struggled to put that sort of consistency together. Inconsistent blocking and the passing game just struggling. We need to get the OL playing better together, get a better C, and the WR need to step up. More offensive weapons would help too (thinking another TE to go along with Dissly as another receiving threat).
