I hope Harbaugh tracks it. Put a big board in the locker room with ass woop numbers by player. Give a prize at the end of the year to the winner.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

I didn't realize Joe Alt just turned 21 on Feb 28. I didn't realize how young he is. Slater just turned 25 a month ago. These guys and Herbert are going to be together for a long time (hopefully). The Chargers just picked up Slater's 5th year option. This team keeps getting younger.

As pointed out earlier, 8 OTs were taken in the 1st round. So let’s say MHJr was available and selected by the Chargers at #5. To find their RT, they then would’ve had to choose from among Patrick Paul, Blake Fisher, Roger Rosengarten, or Kingsley Suamataia (all OTs taken in the 2nd rd, starting at #55 pick). There’s some talent there, but it should be noted that none of them had good run blocking grades. And all would’ve been reaches at #37. I’m not certain that any of them will be better than Pip, at least for the first couple years. So the problem at RT likely wouldn’t have been resolved. And to be sure, it was a problem. Perhaps not a huge problem, but a problem nonetheless. Now Pipkins should be commended for working hard to reach an acceptable level for a backup. But the fact remains that he still struggles mightily against good pass rushers, particularly when the game is on the line. And there are a LOT of good pass rushers these days. Will Alt be better than Pip, given the position change? Certainly nothing is guaranteed, but I’d say the chances are pretty strong.

Some reminders why an upgrade was necessary:

Actually having a dominant OL is hard for this old Chargers fan to visualize. We've had some good ones, maybe very good, never great. And not recently.

But I like it! The IOL have to shape up and the competition is there. The coaching, S&C is there. Let the OTAs begin.

Alt is a major stud at OT. Does it all. I like the rec's we didn't take but Harbaugh Ball is what we willl get. I can't wait!

Brett said that the Cardinals were strongly considering Alt instead of MHJ! 🤯
