It's kind of semantics about whatever you want to call him. We need at least one more high end WR starter opposite him along with a real pass catching TE. The WR isn't QJ who should be WR #3 or 4.

The interior of the line was a mess and the weakest part of the team. I expect Zion is back just due to his contract, but we need a new center and an upgrade over Pipkins before we can take the next step.

I don't want to diminish Ladd McConkey by calling a WR2 as this guy is truly a superstar IMHO. If you want to anoint a new stud 6'2" - 6'4" put-it-all-on-the-field, vertical route runner with great hands and the heart for contested balls as WR1, the so be it. I don't even thing that the humble Ladd would have a problem with that designation as he is clearly a throw back type and time's team player! I have just seen enough of QJ to know that he ought to be a situational WR at best and battle things out for a roster spot with the likes of Rice Jr in the next training camp.

Yup, Ladd is a #1. We don’t have a #2 WR on the team so getting that and a franchise TE should be priorities next season via draft or FA.

QJ is the Ken Murray of wide receivers. He has all the physical measureables that wow you but will always disappoint you when trying to execute.

As good as Ladd was this year, just imagine how much better he'll be with a year of experience and hopefully other weapons drawing attention next year.

He will literally be open on every play.

Herbert needs as many safety valves as possible to help him with the brain fog. Check down capable RB and TE. Someone can look this up, but I bet you we were probably near dead last in the league when it comes to throwing to our backs.

This dude needs a legit TE to come along and save his career. Not even Gates-level, but Hunter Henry-level would be sufficient.

The funny thing is Herbert got criticized last year for checking down so much last year. We didn’t have a pass catching threat at RB this year. Adding someone like the Ekeler of a couple of years ago would help us out a lot. Of course, dreaming big give us a Gibbs.

”Ladd not WR1” I think is usually more meant to say he’s not that proto X formation outside big tall strong WR, its not meant as an assessment to degrade Ladd’s skill and value. he’s not an X. He shouldn’t be. We should get that X WR1, it will only help Ladd even more.

Ladd is the only thing on this forum that has 100% unanimity. Nobody doesn’t love Ladd.

Thomas is bad ass, i assumed he was gone in the teens last draft which is why I called for Ladd as the guy for our second round. I saw exactly what we got to see this season in his GA tape. Imagine if Herbert had both of them … ahhhh …

On X someone created a poll on grading the Chargers.

I didn’t respond but agree with the guy who gave the Defense an A, Offense a C, and ST a B.

If Ladd wasn’t on offense, might have been an F.

                    What do you think?

Exactly right about Ladd McConkey or as Ochocinco called him, Ladarious McConkey

I used to refer to the Chargers needs as WR1 - that has changed. It is now a WR that complements the skill set of Ladd. So the big, tall strong WR opposite him.

Ladd should only get better thats for sure. Maybe Brendan Rice can work with Ladd and take a step forward in year 2

wonder why brendan rice couldnt crack the lineup with this shittastic WR corp of qj and chark, BEFORE the IR? hearing stuff that he looked pretty bad in practice and preseason.
