I think it'll be fun watching Rices son in action. What's the chances he lasts as long as his dad did and is also a HOF'er?

Chargers rookie Brenden Rice said his dad, Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, wants him to prove teams wrong after he tumbled to the seventh round of the NFL draft.

Anecdotal, but I feel like usually in pro sports, if the dad was really great, it's rare for his son to surpass him. It's usually the dads who were marginal pros who end up having superstar sons. I'm sure there are examples that refute this, but it's my general impression across most pro sports.

All that being said...Brenden Rice doesn't need to be his dad to be an effective weapon for us. I love his attitude coming in, though.

He doesn't have to out do dad, just play consistently. Besides dad has said that he wants to coach him up. That's motivation alone. But that is a good point you've made.

What was even funnier was watching them try to get all of the grass off their hands and socks between plays !

BS they knew he was going to drop IMO. I’m probably in the minority but I’ll be surprised if he makes any meaningful contributions.

                      from the article:
"I feel as though we're neck and neck. I'm faster, and I heard his rookie season in the NFL wasn't good," Rice said of his father, who had 49 receptions for 927 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games as a rookie. "I gotta go top him."

I don’t know I guess I’m just not buying the hype and he fell to the 7th for a reason what that is I don’t know. I’m sure being the son of Jerry Rice can be both a blessing and a curse. We’ll see and I’ve been wrong on most of this stuff since Justin was drafted.
