It's why Harbaugh always said, "Imagine Justin Herbert with a running game". Harbaugh brought in Greg Roman specifically for that reason. Hortiz specifically drafted Joe Alt for that reason.

The other aspect of football is playing defense... which Staley was especially bad at coaching/scheming. The Chiefs were 15th in scoring offense last year... while they 2nd in scoring defense.

How about we see what happens this season before we throw everybody under the bus...?
We actually have a team this year...

We actually have depth at player positions

We Have coaching talent all over the place...

I'm not worried as I see most games will be entertaining. Last year up until Staley was fired I always had that sinking feeling... LOL!

Chiefs won the Superbowl with 10 Rookies....

"Locked, Cocked, and ready to Rock!" Jim Harbaugh

I hope for a great season and Harbaugh magic, my eyeballs and brains tell me this roster is not ready to compete. Next year I’m hoping for 10-7 and the year after 13-4. Changing a culture and installing brand new systems takes time.

"Not ready to compete" ! Your eyes and brains are lying!

I think. Let's revisit the culture topic after the Raider game. Do we play hard and smart? TBD.

You take preseason way to seriously.

Of course they will compete, they are professionals. When I say not ready to compete I mean compete for the playoffs, competing at the highest level not just to fight hard and play football.

Competing vs the Faiders isn’t going to teach us much. They should beat the Raiders, they’re bad. It’s sad that the Chargers are only 3.5 point favorites. The Faiders are +1200 to win the AFC west. The Chargers are at an 8.5 over under win total. I’m on the under, 2 games lower than that but really that’s not any more crazy than saying I think the Chargers will win 10 games.

We will see how the season plays out. I’m a Charger fan so I hope we run the table and I eat crow but I’m giving my honest opinion on this team it’s lacking offensive talent and I don’t think it can keep up if it falls behind vs the best offenses in the league. If this defense gets beat up or underperforms the chargers get a top 5 pick.

I undererstand it. You seem to think its a tell all about our players playing vanilla O and D. Everyone kept saying Rice did little in PS so he will be cut.

I said they wont go by just preseason and will account for how he worked with the first team and Herbert. Someone said Cornelious was starting to shine. He had 2 catches and a drop in PS. Too much is always made of PS.

Its also why Egbonolio....or whatever his name is , is still here. Potentual matters as well and they are rookies. Woods must be showing potentual as well because he sure cant tackle for shit.

OK. We "lack offensive talent"? A top 5 QB is a nice start. OL looks very good at OT. OGs - C are decent. RBs look stellar if JK / Gus stay healthy, Good - very good if they don't. So WR/ TE worries you.

Palmer is very good, Q is coming on, Ladd is a top rookie, Chark has deep speed, DD is faster albeit short, Fehoko and Rice show potential. Is this group holding us back in your opinion?

I think the pieces are already there in year 1. Could probably use a pass catcher at TE but we might not need one this year?

Relying on some youth at WR but that's not necessarily a bad thing. A lot of it (on offense) will come down to play calling, health, etc. The usual stuff.

I don't get the hand wringing about our WR room - I think people are going to be surprised at how deep and multi-faceted of a group they are. No more just relying/hoping on KA to get open or MW to stay healthy...

Our RBs are stellar? Lololol! We have a one legged retread, a good 2 down back, and some rookies. A stellar back is like Barkley, CMC or Bijan. Heck I don’t even think we have a good running back room. I’m praying Dobbins magically has some pep after all the injuries but the history on Achilles injuries on RBs isn’t great. I’m also rooting on Vidal to breakout and be our version of Pacheco. There’s hope there but very light on talent.

Also to add that our top 5 QB is going to be downshifted in a run first offense. He’s not going to be top 5 much longer with Roman’s stale passing schemes.

Palmer is not very good, where do you get that from!? He had 500 or so yards last year, that’s mediocre at best. Ladd is a Rookie as you say, here’s hoping he’s good but he did fall to the second round and 32 teams passed on him once many took other WRs so he’s not MHJ or anything. I think this group could grow into something good, I have high hopes for WJ, DD, Rice and Ladd but expecting it so soon after a transition to a more run centric scheme isn’t giving me a lot of confidence.

on a side note our TEs will be blocking way more than pass catching. Our pass catching TE is now Smart after Stick got Hirst murdered in preseason. Nothing to write home about.
