I think expectations need to be tempered and allow Harbaugh time to see who can play versus who looks good in training camp like QJ last year.

The real tell is whether they get better as the season progresses or not. Could be rough out of the gate as they separate the wheat from the chaff.
What you say might be true of some JAGs. I'll be truly shocked if everyone isn't functioning smoothly as a team by preseason. What I've seen in practice looks more organized today than anything I saw last year.

I have no doubt it will be better than Staley’s shitshow but QJ “practiced” great last year. Everybody on this forum was giddy about his training camp film.

Like Mike Tyson’s famous quote, “everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face”

Schemes and player assignments change after they’ve been punched in the face and you see what part of your plan worked and what didn’t.

I see them defending their home turf. 7 wins at home, 3 on the road. Hopefully 10 wins gets you a wild card.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
        Let’s win one for Mack.

I'm just looking forward to being the puncher... rather than the punchee...

That entire offseason & training camp with QJ was kinda strange last year & a good lesson not to pay much attention to most reports. Everyone was raving about how great he looked and how he was tearing it up in training camp then Fouts got on a preseason game and said how much he'd been struggling to catch the ball, which was never reported by anyone else but him. Then he struggled to catch the ball in the regular season.

he didnt drop it that much. his big problem was he was not getting open or open enough and many forced balls to him were easily defended by tight to blanket coverage. Too many "experts" here continue to pretend they don't know this and still call anything that went near him a "drop" still to this day. Rule #1 - if a DB knocks it out of your hands, its not a drop, its a defended pass. I wish you guys would be honest in the analysis at least, then we can figure out if it can be solved.

He had poor route running, sloppy loose change of direction, used little/no speed modulation advantage, inadequate high pointing to prevent DBs from defending, and he had obvious tells that DBs could see from the bleachers telegraphing what he was about to do in a route. He spent more of the off-season working on that than just "catching". As he should and is great, because when he gets open more and gets more open in 2024, he will find "catching" is much easier.

Can it be solved? 100% absolutely - he has physical traits and abilities to do much better as a route runner. We will see a big improvement this year. Welcome to the NFL, kid, its time to grow up.

I feel about 10 to 11 wins with one caveat, Playing the A***** raiders in the first game, if they do their usual cheap shots, how many starters get hurt. If they bolts are tougher this year, maybe they will return the favor on the big black uniformed bullies.

He dropped balls in big moments against GB, Detroit and NE that no doubt colored the perception. Those weren't balls defended and the DBs were a few yards away. That and his inability to get open or win 50/50 balls are why people are down on him. Defenses are going to be tight. It's the nfl and he didn't win those. Against Dallas the INT in the end was just the DB moving him off the spot like he was a child. QJ has a lot of room for improvement.

Harbaugh and his staff have been "punched in the face" repeatedly. Likewise numerous vet players. Yet here we are. I'm not buying any comparisons of last year's Chargers to this team.

Everything has been anticipated and prepared for. Literally based on years of NFL experience. Losing multiple starters in one position group will put Hortiz on the phone.
You may have noticed that we're doing 11 on 11s in OTAs and experimenting with position groups.
This is vet leadership. Alt is sparing with Mack and Bosa among others for example.Stuff happens as always but there'll be damn little that we aren't prepared for.
Minter and Roman aren't doing anything new and have simplified the details of responsibility. Language is new and specific but they'll pick it up.
The greatest "new" the young players will face is the details of their training and they will be thoroughly vetted by training camp.
This is not just another new coach start up. A LOT of thought, experience and relationships have been tapped. They're family.

Harbaugh knows about Raider Week. Add on the 63, wannabe 70 they hung on the Chargers last year, yeah, we'll play with a chip on our shoulders. Hard nosed run game and smothering D. It's just good exercise.
The Ratturds aren't winning this one.
