I say it's Zion, Bozeman, Andre, Salyer, Pipkins and a rookie or two with some actual talent, competing for a few spots.

    Winner take all.
    The shit show must stop.

Criminy, if Herbert has a decently comfortable inner pocket, with time to throw, shoot Fisk can be this year's Dissly level receiving TE.
No doubt that the IOL must get straightened out.
I understand they talked to Jared Wilson at the combine.
    Would this be enough?

Zion and Boze battling @LG... Andre and Wilson battling @OC...?
    Protect the QB
    Run the ball
    Play great defense

Still want to fix the LG position too, instead of dragging it out and hoping for a bandaid for another year.Fix the O line and be done with it.Protect the Franchise.

Guy has issues at pass protection. Not sure he would work well as a swing.

he could definitely work out, maybe not at guard, but when slater went down and he played tackle for us he balled out, if he can keep progressing he'll be a hell of a tackle especially for a backup or a really good trade piece

Ja'Whaun Bentley was released by the Pats. He is a 28y/o LB'er. He would be an awesome signing if the price is right.
Time to put my money where my mouth is: Hampton will be better than Jeanty!

It truly doesn't make sense to sign any more free agents before the draft
You wouldn't want to sign Calais Campbell only to have Derrick Harmon fall to you
Same can be said of Edge, WR and IOL depth

So yes, the MW stuff with Allen was good fodder; or Tony Jefferson talking to Calais Campbell - good fodder - but its not realistic until post-draft

Post-draft - if there are still needs at WR and IDL -- sure, that is when you add those veteran depth pieces.

                Can he play Special Teams?

I was referring to Salyer having a lot of protection issues. Pipkins is the one that stepped up and did fine when Alt or Slater were out this past season.

At this point of free agency, with the team so far under the cap, not any free agents worth overpaying for - I think I would keep PIpkins

The idea of releasing Pipkins was to be well under the cap to be aggressive in free agency with bigger names. That is not the case today, a few weeks post free agency. So to have good depth at OT - I think its worth the cap space, the 6.75m less, 1.75 for his replacement, so a net $5m of cap space for a decent option at swing tackle.

We wont find a better swing tackle at this point than Pipkins. I dont see the point of cutting him just for the sake of cutting him. A lot better than trotting out Storm Norton if a tackle misses games.

I think we let the draft come to us, but to your point, reading a lot of mock drafts, I think those positions (DT, edge, OG) that will be there.

The one thing I think people need to consider is that our OG may be a college OT. A large portion of NFL OG were OT in college, and even more than most teams, we don't care if a player is a OT or OG. Get the best player and even if he best position might be OT, play him at OG.

The other position that seems to be falling to the bottom of the 1st is CB. Still had a great rookie year, but is Hart prepared to be a starter? I see Will Johnson falling in a lot of mocks because he lacks true deep speed, but he is a good man coverage guy if he can play with a cushion.

Jahdae Barron is a good zone coverage guy, who would be an elite (Cooper DeJean, not the same style player, but could be as dominant out of the gate) nickel DB. Would be a project outside, even though he played outside CB in Texas base D, and is just such a good fit as a nickel/star position, which is what James plays much of the time. Can and did play deep S. Lacks the traditional first round CB speed.

The other guy I keep dreaming about is Xavier Woods. Alohi and James are both best up close to the line, in underneath coverage in position to blitz. We resigned Molden to be a 2 deep S, but Woods would be a great fit at the other - over the top S spot. He can play deep and react to the ball, or play robber and take away crossers underneath. He can also do some of the thing that Alohi and James do, so mix it up and make our secondary a bit of a chess piece matchup nightmare for other teams.

Exactly. Thats why I think its worth the $5m of cap space to keep him at this point
