You just can't have enough quality BEEF. There's always room for more, even when a team doesn't have the obvious line deficiencies that the Bolts do.

Beef = Relief. And it will be no surprise if it's what's being served for dinner at pick #22 on Thursday night.

Yeah way I see it we still need at least one more solid O line pick at Guard and possibly a Center for the future and need another DT plus Edge.Obviously we also need a solid WR and speedy RB along with possibly one more CB.We could literally go any way in this draft as we are still at least one more season away from taking back our division and going on a Superbowl run.

But what if the talent/quality @#22 is all pretty even? Certainly PON must be considered then.
Just because pundits have Player A graded @#35... doesn't mean that Hortiz has him graded @#35.

Here are the NFL combine grades... (Lance Zierlein). These are prospects many have talked about @#22. I will also include Mason Taylor, Donovan Ezeiruaku, and Trey Amos... whom the Chargers had official Top-30 visits with.

For additional reference, I'll include some consensus Top-20 prospects... Tyler Warren (6.77), Colston Loveland (6.70), Will Johnson (6.50), Mykell Williams (6.47), Mike Green (6.46)....

            WR Mathew Golden (6.42)
            CB Jahdae Barron (6.42)
TE Mason Taylor (6.40) ******** Chargers visit
Edge Donovan Ezeiruaku (6.40) ****** Chargers visit
            WR Tetairoa McMillan (6.40)
            Edge James Pearce (6.40)
            RB TreVeyon Henderson (6.38)
            OG Tyler Booker (6.38)
            DT Derrick Harmon (6.38)
            CB Maxwell Hairiston (6.37)
            WR Emeka Egbuka (6.37)
            RB Omarion Hampton (6.35)
CB Trey Amos (6.35) *********** Chargers visit
            CB Shavon Revel (6.34)
            DT Kenneth Grant (6.34)
            IOL Grey Zabel (6.34)

If Joe Hortiz's grading system looks similar to Lance Zierlein's... maybe Mason, Donovan, and Trey are considered @#22 for the Chargers...

Now of those 3 who plays the most? Is Amos beating out all the CBs currently on the roster? Does EZ beat out all the EDGE guys and is getting reps regularly? Or Mason Taylor playing regularly in this offense?

A CB like Amos might win the starting job...a guard like Booker...but any other pick?...Edge, DT, WR, RB...they will all rotate, or share snaps, IMO....even Grant or Harmon or Nolan would rotare in and out, year 1. Doesnt mean they cant have impact right away...but do you have something in mind? Or someone you feel would bring a more meaningful number of snaps year 1?
                Lone Bolt's Final Mock

Tyler Booker G, Josaiah Stewart Edge, Cam Skattebo RB, Mitchell Evans TE, Jamaree Caldwell NT, Isaac TeSlaa WR, Ahmed Hassanein DE, Craig Woodson S, Eli Cox C, Kalel Mullings RB

Sleeper day 3 pick: Tahj Brooks RB Texas Tech

Amos would/could start immediately. He's very good. If he started, he would get more snaps than a TE.
However, Amos isn't rated as high by Zierlein. We know Joe is a BPA kind of guy.

I'm not saying Joe's rating system is exactly like Zierlein's... but if it's close... then Mason Taylor and Donovan Ezeiruaku are tied for 20th best prospect in this draft.

Many of us suspect that TE and edge are the two most needed positions in this draft. When we suggest Taylor or EZ @#22, some people claim that we're making that decision upon drafting for need. When in reality, there is evidence that those two might be the BPA's @#22.

I can imagine Mason Taylor's effect on this offense.

12-personnel (most widely used formation in Roman's offense)
Dissly in-line, covering an OT. Ladd on the same side... off the LOS.
QJ (or MW) split out wide on the other side... Mason Taylor in the slot on that side.
You could send Taylor in motion... or ladd in motion... overload left/right from a 12-personnel.
Mason's best run blocking done from the slot/outside.

                  11-personnel (second most used formation)
QJ on 1 side out wide. MW on the other side, out wide.
Ladd in the slot. Mason in the other slot.

Along with another good RB, this offense would be dangerous... even without an addition to the OL.

If DT Jeffery Simmons becomes available for trade during the draft, would you like to see the Chargers trade for him? If they could get him for a 2nd round pick, I’m all for it. He’s only 27.

Daniel Jeremiah at his final Pre Draft Media Call said he sees the Rams looking at TE Mason Taylor at 26 now.
He likes Amos to the Rams too..

I don’t see Amos beating out the current CB’s here. I like him though. He’s good.

EZ would be a guy who going to play in some capacity but in a specific package (NASCAR) speed role simply because I highly doubt with his lack of power, he’d be taking away snaps from the other guys. He’d play but not as much as Harmon or Taylor, IMO.
Yeah, I see Taylor fitting Roman perfectly.

“Mason Taylor to me," said Daniel Jeremiah on a conference call, "is an emerging player in that every GM i talk to is comfortable with him. He's a safe player. He's rock solid. He had a nice week at the Senior Bowl.
"He's one of those guys when you are talking to teams, if you got wiped out, who would be your guy? If we get wiped out, we would just take Mason Taylor. He's going to start the next ten years. Just a steady, emerging, solid player. I think he goes in the back half of the 1st round.”
