I am doing it because if you trade from 22 to 18 or whatever, you are getting a top 12(ish) player on your board at 18.
Do you consider Loveland or Hampton a “12ish” player? I mean that in the context of him playing on the Chargers offense. Does that player immediately become the starter at their respective position and that you legitimately envision running or receiving for a thousand yards his rookie season?

Would you give this years 1st and 2nd to raiders for their 24' 1st?

      I would.

I don't know enough about rankings to say he is a top 12ish player. I don't think i would trade up for RB - thats for sure. Tight end, maybe. But probably more for Warren than Loveland.

I think a lot of what happens with the draft will make more sense post free-agency. But I am still of the opinion I want MORE picks on Day 2 and less so that means trading back

Yes. But is Loveland or Warren at Bowers level?

If the other two RBs are off the board i like Kaleb Johnson even at pick 22. Keep JK and add another rising star....
Chiefs won the Superbowl with 10 Rookies....

I'm the one reminding you that it's okay to step back from the ledge, go back and re-read your own post, so much drama, the division will be spoilers at every turn on EVERY pick etc...just silly as fuck to read that shit and it's a bit wild that you actually believe those things to be true, all I'm saying is stop stressing it and accept that this new Charger reality is probably the best one we've ever seen, it's palpable, even Beathard overpaid for players on trades and for free agents...

Joe's got this, you might not agree with all the moves he makes but I feel comfortable predicting that he's going to make the Chargers one of the top ten rosters in the NFL in 2025 and one of the top 5 rosters in 2026...so sit back and enjoy the process, this guy put on a masterclass in season one and he's just warming up...it's okay to worry less is all I'm saying...

What FA TE’s or RBs do you think the chargers are going after? I don’t see single one, myself. I say that because it’s a deep draft at both positions. But if a team has 22, and they know that the top 2 TE’s are gone and the top 2 RBs are gone, don’t you think they’d want to move up? I am just throwing this out there because there seems to be a consensus forming that after the top 2 players at these 2 positions, there’s a pretty big drop off to the 3rd player at these positions. They are not on the same level.

So let’s take this a step further.
Let’s say indeed that Warren-Loveland and Jeanty-Hampton are gone by pick 22.
Loeland goes to DEN and PIT takes Hampton one spot in front of us.

Then Yeah, you might as well hope you can trade back…

No one’s on a ledge or stressing except you with you’re beyond hyperbolic, goofy posting.
Calm down. We’re simply discussing the draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs targeted Patrick Mahomes as their quarterback of the future and paid heavily to move up and snag the big-armed passer. K.C. traded the No. 27 overall pick, a third-round pick and their 2018 first-round selection to the Buffalo Bills to move up to No. 10 to select Mahomes.
all bets are off when targeting a franchise QB, that and when the roster is so loaded already that you are convinced that ONE player is going to get you a Super Bowl...The Chargers are not in either of those situations, we already have our franchise QB and our roster has too many holes to send draft capital out the door on the presumption that a division rival is going to draft one of our targeted guys...

What Joe did last year in round 2 would seem like a much more likely scenario to repeat itself, why? because moving up from the mid 50s to the late 30 only costs a day three pick compared to the ridiculous amounts of draft capital needed to move in round #1...I would expect any trade up to happen in round 2 if Hortiz wants a guy that he knows won't make it to pick #54

You've already nailed down the #22 spot to 4 guys and better HOPE we can trade back?! and this type of take is not hyperbolic?

I bet if I spend hours after watching the Shrine bowl coverage again and the Senior bowl coverage again and the combine coverage once that happens, I bet I can get to about 8-10 guys in my cluster that I'd be happy with at #22...I think we're in a great spot to come away with a really good CB, Edge, or IDL player if all the guys in your cluster are gone...

You're telling me that I'm being goofy and you continue to write these dire consequence type posts...the Chargers are not going to need to hope for shit okay, Hortiz is going to get us a great player at #22, it just might not be a player that you think is worth that pick...until the season starts and you see him play and then you'll just forget about whatever hyperbolic negative reaction you had on draft day

We not talking about 1st and 2nd here we talking about 3rd or 4th with our 1st rd to jump few spots to take one.

                        Totally different price

I just meant I need to see what they do in free agency before expending extra draft capital during the draft. For instance, say they fill WR, OG and Center but with three bridge players in Adams, Zeitler or Scherff and Kelly. I don't think they should spend extra draft capital because all three of those players are short -term solutions

Now if you tell me the Chargers get Higgins and Dalman plus a RG like Zeitler or they get Adams, Dalman and Becton - I might be a bit more open to move draft capital to move up as theoretically, two of the positions filled are longer term solutions.

But I don't think the Chargers should go into pick 22 NEEDING either RB or TE. They could also use Edge or DT.
