One year deal for $19m like last year , maybe higher with incentives.
If you want to lower the cap number and add a void year like this year - thats fine
Even that, if the team can sign Milton Williams, Sweat, Odeybingo, or Koonce over Mack - I probably do as all of those players are in prime of careers.

Plus, they don’t have to be at league cap yet even if they were over. They could have gone over knowing they can cut Joey before league start date. It was something else, maybe just recognition there are no trade partners or respect for Joey or ?

perhaps they offered Joey a pay cut deal and he said just release me and asked if they would do it now?

The reason Bosa was released yesterday is not to have cap space - they had plenty. It was he had the $12m roster bonus due on March 12 or March 14 and since a new deal could not be agreed too, they released him. Who knows, maybe they didn't even talk to Bosa about a new deal.

Releasing the player is also the fair thing to do. Release them early, they can start talking to other teams immediately. They don't even need to wait for FA to start. His issue is the injuries, and that makes things sticky. But he can talk to teams and judge his value prior to the start of UFA, and it gives him a headstart. Joey can truly maximize his earning potential.

A.J. Brown is a similar trade value and he fetched a 1st and 3rd round pick in 2022.

Metcalf will also be looking for a $30 million per year contract.

YOU might not like him but that is his market value for comparison.
Yeah having to give up picks for a diva WR only to have to sign him to a mega extension as he's turning 29 would be an unmitigated disaster.

          Pass.

I am hoping that Hortiz surprises us with a surprise trade or two for IOL and/or EDGE that we didn't think would be available.

All indications are that Drew Dalman will hit the FA market Yeah he missed 8 games last year but has otherwise been a reliable player.

Will probably need to get paid close to top center money as he is by far the best option available in FA, but it would be worthwhile. This is how the money should be spent.

Would be my priority target if I am Hortiz.

                Metcalf just turned 27
Not sure he is a Diva either
He just wants to be traded

Brown was 24 Metcalf is 27, since we're bringing up ages

I also think Brown is a better receiver. He is a better route runner.

It is the fair thing to do and if they are releasing Pipkins, they should releases him today. Granted, without the roster bonus - they don't have too. Plus, Hortiz might hold on to Pipkins until he makes sure he has better coming from free agency

That might be harsh for Pipkins to get released late - but thats the way the game is played.

He is a total diva. He will be 29 when his current contract expires?

27 or 29, either way not the kind of player we need to be losing picks and wrecking our cap for.

Drew Dalman and Darius Slayton would be a GREAT start to the off-season.

Correct. I get Metcalf is 27 and Adams is 32
But, Adams is the better WR, will be cheaper, won't cost draft picks and you can use a draft pick on a WR that will have a year or two under Adams to learn how to play
That to me makes more sense. As long as the contract for Adams is written that its two years max - meaning a solid opt out after the 2026 season

If you sign and trade for Metcalf - that will be draft picks and much more expensive than Adams

am also not sure why some here think we are gonna spend big money in FA @wideout in lieu of shoring up our trenches.... has JH2 given us any indication of the such, other than that's what some on this board wants ??
The problem when you only have one solid WR you are usually no better than a one and done playoff team.

The strength of our team is good coaching right now! We need two solid WR's added to our roster, and we need two solid OG's and an OC! We need to address both areas equally.
