Bennett was the Rams’ lowest-graded offensive player despite cutting down on the turnovers from last week; he threw one interception and lost a fumble on Saturday. He had three turnover-worthy plays and just one big-time throw.
That’s because Stick played far worse. I’m sure you would gladly swap Bennett for Stick.

We beat him all day...until a fourth stringer who will be bagging groceries next week got picked on with a PI and the the big burn play to give up the TD. Its preseason...its camp fodder vs camp fodder in the 4th...nothing to see here.
      Lone Bolt's Final Mock

Tyler Booker G, Josaiah Stewart Edge, Cam Skattebo RB, Mitchell Evans TE, Jamaree Caldwell NT, Isaac TeSlaa WR, Ahmed Hassanein DE, Craig Woodson S, Eli Cox C, Kalel Mullings RB

Sleeper day 3 pick: Tahj Brooks RB Texas Tech

In the second preseason game, the Chargers fell short to the Rams, 13-9.

The starters remained sidelined, while the majority of the playing time went to those at the middle to the back end of the depth chart who are vying for a role or a spot on the 53-man roster.

With that being said, here are the best and worst performers from Saturday’s game, according to Pro Football Focus’ player grades.

        Top 5 Offense

        WR Simi Fehoko -- 91.3

        OL Rashawn Slater -- 81.2

        OL Willis Patrick -- 75.3

        OL Alex Leatherwood -- 73.1

        OL Trey Pipkins -- 72.3

        Top 5 Defense
Willis Patrick was our second best graded O lineman, and played most of the Rams game at LG...maybe we found a serviceable backup...at 6-2, 340# that's a real fireplug:

its not like Bennett torched our guys at all. He torched one deep roster scrub once, a guy who will not be seen again after cuts.

We got beat by Stick, who I assume had a lower score and also may never been seen again after cuts. My conclusion is PS is not telling us much on our offense, but our back roster defenders have a MUCH BETTER grasp of what they are supposed to do out there - improved scheme and assignment coaching is apparent.

I had hoped to draft Bennett in the 7th, but it was not to be. But it’s ok since he doesn’t seem to be a NFL QB either.

Onward and upward. Hortiz will have competition in here for Stick after final cutdowns.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
            Let’s win one for Mack.

Rich Eisen highlights this as a Harbaugh Files moment. Eisen also points out that Herbert is third all time in passing yards per game. Brees is second. Mahomes is first. Interesting that the #2 and #3 QBs in this category were drafted by the Chargers. Also interesting is that the top 3 in this category play/played for AFC West teams.

Eisen loves him some Jim Harbaugh because he is a Mich alum. But he's always been a JH10 booster as well. His sidekick, Chris Brockman, is openly contemptable towards Herbert.

Throughout their history, Chargers have been serial disappointers with the exception of QB’s they’ve drafted. Is there another team who’s done better?

Hadl, Fouts, Humphries, Brees, Rivers, Herbert? Pretty extraordinary, I’d say.

I’ll take a mully for Leaf.

Humphries was FA sign and already established as QB, but otherwise agree

And technically Rivers was not drafted by the Chargers, but came in a trade.

He still has the feel of a draft pick.

My reading on this situation is that Herbert has some inflammation of the plantar fascia in that foot but it's not quiet full plantar fasciitis. My guess is that it won't slow him down or stop him from ripping off long runs when the opportunity presents. He is young and fit, and he is getting the best medical care available on the planet for it.
