Or….Herbert has to change.Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View Post
Who cares. Hortiz has built a good improving roster but has failed at improving the biggest weakness on the team...o line...injuries or not...they are inevitable on OL...you prepare for them
He was wrong trading for Deculus ...the guy is PS fodder who sucks
Do better. He should have done better in the off season and he absolutely has to so something right now with the hits and pressures Herbert has taken the last 2 weeks. Otherwise you are going to lose your franchise QB to injury and this season is over.
Instead of checking down 3 or 4 receiving options, he reads the defense IN ADVANCE of the snap, makes his best guess as to who the most open receiver will be and slings it in the count if 2.
I can guarantee he won’t be pressured, sacked, and Deculus will get 100 in pass pro.
You might think this is silly, but it’s exactly what Lance did in preseason. He either chucked it on the count of 2 or took off running.

You think that is an ideal way to run an offense?Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post

You think it will magically cure that he has defenders in his face on 3 of 4 plays?
Maybe the OC could change giving only 12 carries to his best offensive player yesterday?
I dont think its that simple. I am not putting this mess on Justin Herbert who was in MVP talk of the league a week ago

His average time to throw for the entire game was 2.63 seconds so it's not like he was sitting back there slowly going through reads - he was under instant pressure.Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post

The ideal is having the time to check every receiver but he won’t have that luxury behind this OL until Alt and Becton return.
We swept our division with those two in the lineup so I’m not panicking and subscribing to the hair on fire meltdown that we can’t compete with the OL we started the season with.

There were longer and shorter times….when he made very quick decisions it was a much more effective.Originally posted by richpjr View Post

Don't you just wish our Oline would come out and play angry and nasty and man up and take the attitude that they are tired of being considered the weak link and play a bruising, dominating game! It's like they are robots constantly making the same mistakes on stunts and the pass rush!Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post
