Personally, rather spending a draft pick on Loveland even if a 3rd over paying both the draft pick AND double figure salary for a Goeddert or Andrews - even if the draft pick was a 5th
Chargers should be using draft picks for the long term future. Not one year stop gaps

I do like his WR takes though..surprised he has Golden #1..probably won't make it to us at 22 and that's fine if it drops Loveland to us.
I agree and I think he would need to add some serious weight as well. I would be ok with Bech in the 3rd or 4th rnd. I'm just not sure what type of X WR they are looking for. Golden (speed) vs Beck (jump ball type). If the reports are true that Chargers pick was between Thomas and Alt, I'm guessing they are preferring a speedier guy at X.

He probably has him #1 based on his speed but who knows.
Time to put my money where my mouth is: Hampton will be better than Jeanty!

You can believe the Chargers went to the bother of having Engram out to LA just for curiousity if you like but that has not been their MO. They have brought players out to LA with the intent of signing. I believe they made Engram an offer as their first TE choice but this one didnt go their way. It happens.

Kils seems to be up on some details.

According to 9News’ Mike Klis, the contract offers to Engram from the Chargers and Broncos were effectively the same:

“Again, his visit included a physical. He took a Tuesday redeye flight back to his Atlanta home, where Wednesday morning he and his wife Emily talked and prayed over the decision.

As it turned out, the offers from both the Chargers and Broncos were about the same. Engram chose the Broncos.”

I think it’s a very smart signing. At this point I think they will take Loveland or Grant if either are there. If not, I can see them trading back and targeting somebody like Ferguson in the 3rd. I think Grant is the only DT they would take in the 1st. DT is such a deep class they might wait to take one.

I’m very excited to see what Hortiz does in this draft. Does he go TE and WR early because they aren’t as deep, and wait for DT, RB, OL and Edge until later.

I think Conklin is going to be the last free agent signing until after the draft, but it still feels like there is a trade incoming. Chargers are probably somewhere around $30 mil under the cap thus far. They have the room for a trade.

Maybe call ATL and see if they will take a 3rd for Pitts?

This is just me, but it feels like Hendrickson.

Just look at the depth and the guys they signed to the 1-year deals. Those are the areas they are going to address in the draft, IMHO. It's just guessing which ones they are prioritizing.

Let's not forget they need to extend Slater. Depending on how they want to structure the deal they could take a bigger hit this year for more flexibility in future seasons or even drop his cap hit this year. I could definitely see a trade but hope they don't give up more than day 3 pick unless they have a sign and trade i place.

I have them under $20m but that was before the Conklin signing -- but did include paying the rookies and saving $10m for inseason costs
thats still pretty good amount of cash

                        He's not worth both a 3rd and 11m salary

Just use the 3rd and the Comp pick 6th to move up to get Loveland
