The only reason folks see the IOL pressure so clearly is it almost NEVER gets there anymore from the edge. That doesn't mean it wouldn't get there from outside if we had bad tackles. OTs are paid the most on the OL not because NFL owners and GMs are stupid, guys.
In hindsight I would still have drafted Alt first and Frazier, the Center, second. Team still needed a #1 receiver so would have figured out something else to do with the rest of the draft or more likely FA.
If Herbert had time, he could be completing a lot more passes to TE's and WR's no matter who they are.

New coach. New scheme. Lots of new players. Lots of injuries (even in pre-season).
I'm not freaking out like most of TPB's.
I like the new coaches. I liked this 1st draft. I'm patiently waiting to see where we are @Week 10.
Everyone said we weren't a SB contending team... it would take 2 or 3 drafts. But now those people are screaming for SB standards.

More IOL pressure, this time with Chris Jones getting past Zion. Okay, so Jones is a tough assignment, but this isn't the only time Zion has been burned...fortunately, Herbie got the pass of to Conk just in time for a nice gainer...

Now, THIS is the kind of play I'd like to see more of...Herbie fakes to Gus Bus, then rolls out...PLENTY of time to throw, no pressure, nice clear field of vision, and connects to QJ for a nice gainer:

Here, the Chefs line Jones up against Mustipher, and the result is predictable:

Here's ANOTHER play I'd like to see more of: the screen pass...and a nice gainer to Dobbins with Zion out in front blocking...

Its kind of scary thinking how much more reinforcement this OL will still need next off season.

Im not sure what this forum wants.
We ALL knew we were going to be more a run team than we had been. We mostly all wanted Harbaugh. OK, so not all wanted Roman but regardless if its Roman or somebody, we were going to be more a run team. Roman was not the OC at Michigan.
Cousins said last night they are still working out the kinks in their offense and is feeling better about it every week. Herb missed two weeks of that in TC with his foot. It is still a work in progress. He had his most pass attempts of the season against KC.. But i keep seeing complaining.
Bitching about we need to open up Herb more like we used to isnt what they will do. Maybe a little but not to what some of you want. The offense will keep getting better, especially when we get out OTs back but i just dont know what the people here want, besides to complain.
Do we want to win or see Herbert throw for more yards to keep up with other QBs? Because we havent won shit when he was doing that! He isnt going to ever throw for 5K yards again. The most id guess will be 4500 but that might even be very rare. 4K might be it.
Who cares he is making 262 mil? So is Lamar, so is Lawrence, so is Hurts, so is Burrow (give or take a few mil on these guys)......if we win, i dont give a shit. Its not my money! We will win this year more than last year and be better going forward every year. Still have a few areas to improve.

I am not giving this or any regime a pat on the back until we play a game of 60 minutes and beat a good fucking football team!!
As for Herbert, I agree the 4500-5000 yard passing season are a thing of the past. But I ask you, are you ok with Herbert and his talent on pace for 20 TDs and 2400 yards...worse than all the bad Qbs in the NFL?
