According to the salary cap sites it isnt fully guaranteed.
His fully guaranteed is

We can trade him and save 1.12 mil according to their charts.

We can cut him and save nothing and endure a 1.4 mil dead cap but if we trade him the dead cap is only 167k.

However it says nothing about making the 53 so im not 100%sure. Im just going by their cut and trade charts.

vested veterans with more than 4 accrued seasons, their salary becomes fully guaranteed if they are on the roster week one of the season...OTC should have those things added to their algorithm at some point if it's not there now...

this is one of the reasons why we see teams at times cut a vested veteran that 's not going to be subject to waivers right before the 53 man cut downs, then they bring them back on the roster after week one, that way if they have to release them later in the season their salary for the rest of the year is not guaranteed...

you're right about trading Stick, a trade would literally be the only way to recoup the prorated remnant of his salary for 2024...that number becomes less and less every week he's on the roster so at this point his 1.25 base minus two paychecks would be the savings amount, so whatever 1.25 mil divided by 17 comes out to then subtract it from 1.25 mil...BUT who the fuck is going to give the Chargers compensation for Easton, who wants to trade for Stick? Yeah id agree, who would want him but you never know. Id trade him for a 7th...or a 5 gallon bucket of Gatoraid if it saves us some cap.

I'm not sure they have the cap room to do that, they have 8.4 mil left for the season and will need most of it to fill the roster for guys getting put on injured reserve as the season progresses...

I'm not sure they have the cap room to do that, they have 8.4 mil left for the season and will need most of it to fill the roster for guys getting put on injured reserve as the season progresses...

No need to rush after 2 games but they can extend so minimal money hits 2024 cap, if he wasnt so cheap already, they could create cap savings in 24 but I thjink thats not poss

^^^this, his contract is so low any extension would take money form the cap...and I'm going to say something kind of fucked, even if he ends up having a probowl type year, with his history the offers are still not going to be super high in free agency, anything he ends up getting is going to be loaded with incentives...

Yes, $6 mil plus incentives should get the deal done for next year. No need to rush at this point until we know he can stay healthy.
