Let’s win one for Mack.

2013 #11 overall pick Fluker OT
2014 #25 overall pick Verrett DB
2015 #15 overall pick Gordon RB
2016 #3 overall pick Bosa Edge
2017 #7 overall pick Williams WR
2018 #18 overall pick James S
2019 #28 overall pick Tillery DT
2020 #6 overall pick Herbert QB and #23 overall pick Murray LB
2021 #13 overall pick Slater OT
2022 #17 overall pick Johnson G
2023 #21 overall pick Johnston WR
2024 #13 overall pick Bowers TE he picked this one for the Raiders...
Looking back at Telesco's 1st round picks, there are so many misses for a guy that gets credit for hitting in round 1, Bosa never lived up to the draft slot...Williams also never came close to top 7 type impact, even when he took Herbert he also took Murray which just makes the Herbert pick feel like bullshit luck...Slater was great and Bowers was a no brainer...I'm looking at the James, Herbert, Slater, and Bowers picks as his saving grace, otherwise the rest is kind of underwhelming...4 sure fire hits and 2-3 so so picks and 6-7 not so good looking picks...Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.

as for cleaning house and just saying fuck it, let's get the IOL fixed in regular free agency and maybe bring in a couple of guys in unqualified free agency for Herbert like maybe Devontae Adams and Mark Andrews...then rebuild the defense in the draft by going Edge and IDL with the first two picks, then picking up additional DL and Edge help on day three, this is the perfect year to reload the defense like that, unfortunately there is another side to this that bears mentioning...a political side...how do veteran free agents that you are trying to convince to come to LA react to the Chargers letting Mack and Bosa both go? Are you going to get those top notch post draft free agent guys to come to LA if they feel you're in rebuild mode?
Anyone that has an interest in taking less money to play with the Chargers because they are a contender now might think twice at making that decision now, IDK...there's a lot more to this than just a clean slate...plus both Bosa and Mack had a real good game in Houston...IDK, it's tough...
my best case scenario to continue to sell veterans to come to LA on bargain deals is to keep at least one of those two big names and potentially both, it buys you time to continue rebuilding thru the draft too...or the Chargers could go full blown LA Rams and just clean house because they feel so damn confident about their ability to find talent in the draft in any round and because they have a fantastic coaching staff...

Having Molden back with Gilman next to him makes Minters job easier cause James can come down and play in the box, and that alleviates so much pressure for Colson too.Time to put my money where my mouth is: Hampton will be better than Jeanty!

That money should be enough to resign Poona, Tarte, Molden and Fulton. They all were key contributors on prove-it deals and I'd love it if they were all back. Mack is a wildcard as he may think he can find a better place to win a ring elsewhere. One thing is for sure if both Mack and Bosa are gone we need to sign an edge and draft an edge.,

But how did Mack out play his contract last year to get a raise this year? His 2024 was worse than 2023 and he got paid $19m last year. The second half of the season was much worse than the first half. I know he had two sacks against Houston. But tackles and sacks, one of his worst seasons, excluding 2021, when he was injured.
For me, Mack on a one year deal making around $18m make sense - anything more that would be a multiple year commitment or a huge cap hit to release him (>$5-6m) just makes no sense. Still makes more sense to sign a younger DLineman who will get better over the next three years. People bring up Allen, Mack, Williams (Popper did, made no sense)-those are lateral moves at best. Time to move this team forward.
And lastly - its not about paying "our players first." Its about fielding the best roster possible - and sure, that should include Molden and Ford on defense but still, Hortiz needs to improve the roster.Last edited by Bolt4Knob; 02-20-2025, 03:26 PM.
