Here is the thing - the reason I gave them an F -- and it was always - at this point - is the team had TWO glaring weaknesses, Center and Right Guard and Hortiz had not fixed either
I always said it was "in pencil" and could change - and he it did change.

Just because IOL was the biggest need - didn't mean it had to be done first. It just needed to be done.

The Chargers roster is in a good spot - still a bit concerned about Center or LG - depending on where Zion ends up -- but I think they are in a good spot there

TE might be the next NEED. See what happens with Andrews

Agreed. Would love to just snag TE Andrews and go into the draft in an even stronger roster standpoint.

They'll wear down defenses more effectively.

Where they'll be hurting is on bounce outs, that were back breakers to opposing teams last season three or four times.
Harris can do that, but he's nowhere like Dobbins.

Harris is a better fit and more reliable than JK Dobbins in Greg Roman's offense .... although I'd love to have JK Dobbins back.
They still need a 2nd back.

When Dobbins was out last year, the offense went into the toilet.

How did he look like against Houston in returning? 9 rushes for 26 yards, which was a lower average than Edwards that game.
He wasn't effective when he got back.
Yes, I'm encouraged by Najee's relatively good health history... compared to JK Dobbins.
        I will trust the process.

One thing that everybody keeps talking about... receiving ability out of the backfield.
IMO, this shouldn't be a trait that makes/breaks a RB prospect. Roman doesn't really use his RB's in this way too much.
He uses them to play-action defenses... as a weapon to get WR's and TE's open with more space. He's drawing LBs and safeties to the RB.
IMO, it's why the screen pass game is not really effective in this offensive scheme.
        Protect the QB
        Run the ball
        Play great defense

The problem was you and certain posters assessed the situation way too early, and irrationally started raking on our GM because we didn't sign the players you liked! You have to regard the offseason as a whole every time with the draft, and not 2 days into free agency.

Lol, I’m a half day behind you guys so trying to catch before I start my daily post blitz of crap. But this was too funny to not stop and appreciate … a fucking Rembrandt right tharr!

Slater will be signed. There’s no reason for urgency or panic in Mudville. They have 12 months to get it done if they want. This doesn’t need to be their #1 priority focus when they still need another 10 players or so to play in 2025.

My 2c guess is they want to finish more of their 2025 roster and see how much cap room they have so they can adjust the 2025 and 2026 cap hit vs contract terms to match.

            Well played, good sir!

I know that the RB field is deep... although, not as deep as some suggest (not all of those players fit our style).
In any case, it's a 1-year deal. As a team that truly wants to run the ball, they should get the best RB they can get.
How would you feel about bringing JK back, I mean if no one gives him what he wants out there wouldn't he be better for us than any rookie in the #2 role behind Najee?...I know I can trust Dobbins to pass protect and if he's not carrying the full load I think his odds of playing thru the season go way up...

The Eagles themselves would've played Becton at LG, this was talked about in interviews, he struggled in pass pro at RG at times due to the footwork being so different on the right side, he had played on the left side most of his career, it was out of necessity that they played him at RG and because they already had the LG spot filled...

He was able to pull it off on the right side because Philly's most experienced lineman was next to him there, here with the Chargers that guy is Slater...he's used to the footwork on the left and he would be working with our most experienced O-lineman...

I think we still get another guard in free agency to man that RG spot so that Bozeman can stay as a backup...

my guess is that it'll be Slater---Becton---Zion---draft pick/free agent---Alt...with Bozeman, Pipkins, Salyer, and maybe another draft pick or another cheap veteran as backups...
Becton just spent 2024 learning the transition from OT to RG - I only know from reports, so grain of salt, but many said he started rough/inconsistent and got better and better as the season went on as he got the hang of it. I didn’t really notice him until the playoffs, where I thought he consistently stood out on tape in a good way.

Why not just leave him at RG? Maybe he turns into pro bowl there vs another switch from R-L? Is LG more important in modern football, the same as LT vs RT?

                        - I always said “to this point.” And up until signing Becton, the biggest need on the roster wasn’t fixed. Hence, the low grade. Maybe incomplete was more warranted.

Sorry if signing MWill didn’t warrant the grade of an A.

you can't lose with either one...and we do need that dominant interior defensive lineman...
