Yes, we all criticize Roman for his playcalling and last week it was dreadful. He has had his good days too but even the best known playcallers have bad days. Last nights 4th down call to end the game by McVay was a terrible call. Ben Johnson his first week was awful.Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post
True, but another and more important reason he’s not criticizing the OL is because he knew he called the wrong plays that put them in indefensible positions.
Everybody keeps foaming at the OL. I put the blame on Roman. There was a brief stretch where the offense came back from the deficit with much quicker throws and Omarion runs….but then Roman abandoned it and the train went of the tracks again.
This was and is the OC’s problem.

I like the thought process that Herbert needs some accountability but maybe the play calls need to allow for quicker throws
and maybe the blocking scheme, extra blockers if need be - need to be added to allow for him time to throw
It is a collective effort and it starts with the coaching staff.

If Rams got the 1st down McVay would have been called a genius.Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post

It was bad execution by the offense and perfect execution by defense.

Okay. I didn’t stick around to hear that. But sounds like he would go for it again on 4th down but just a different play.Originally posted by richpjr View Post
McVay was moaning after the game about the play call and how he should have called something else.
I’ve seen much bolder calls than that. One time Shanahan defeated the Chargers by one point by calling for a two point conversion instead of the extra point at the end of the game.

Which is kind of odd because they only allowed 6 points in the second half and batteedr Jones so much that I'm not sure he could have gone back into the game if they had gone for the fg instead.Originally posted by Maniaque 6 View PostIt's like that McVay does not trust his defense.

Great! what did you come up with?Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post
Yup. Justin needs to be quicker and decisive with his throws.
The Giant game is perfect to review and time how long before each of Justin’s hits.
Use that going forward as the limit you have to get the ball out on passing plays.
It’s as simple as that unless he prefers getting hit.
