SJD clearly has his guy beat - it looks like he might be getting shoved a bit as well. But he is clearly flying towards Herbert as he climbs the pocket a bit. SJD flies by him (tries grabbing at Herbert?) in a diving motion and it looks like he simply misses. By then he's already a human projectile.

What football move was SJD making ?

At least doing something would let us fans know you tried to address the issue instead of counting your capital.

I disagree . . . . . . . . doing something just to do 'something' is a move made by lesser GM's - guys who are interested in protecting their position. Joe will make a move if it makes sense. We've got to be realistic - there's no FA's out there that will help us at this point. What Joe should be doing is looking at the Jets & Bengals of the NFL world and seeing if there's anything there - it may cost him a high draft pick to pry a starting caliber player away from a losing team, but that's why he gets paid lots of money . . . . . . . . to make decisions just like this.

I thought Alt’s injury was a season ending knee injury, so very glad it wasn’t, although it appears he will miss at least a month, if not more. With a bye week still coming up, hope the chargers can split the next group of games in his absence. Fortifying that inner o-line with the addition of someone like Zeitler should help provide immediate stability.

Many of us wish for that, but Harbaugh has his reasons, with his brilliance and perhaps a few of his occasional foibles.

End of the day: I'll trust his overall judgment over my own or anyone's opinion on this forum. He's not just a coach...he's a coach at the highest level. He's not just a coach at the highest level, but one that has won big at the highest level.

Upon 30th review, I'll give your take some consideration.
Obviously, I am bent that Alt is dinged.
But I am not ready to say "that's football".

The Chargers certainly have the needed positional players for sure! Gadsden looks special, as we already know Ladd is.. Cannot even imagine what this looks like with a healthy Hampton and o-line.

QJ made a couple of tough catches that he could not have made just a season ago! His growth is a testament to his work ethic and humility. Hope he continues this trajectory!

If the Chargers can just survive, I think they can become a very dangerous team!
