I truly, truly do not understand what the team sees in Bozeman. Literally the only redeeming trait he has that I can see is he is durable. I know PFF grades are very suspect, but it is hard to disagree with their grade. Being the 34th and dead last center means not only is he worse than every other starting center, but also worse than someone's backup.

We have no Idea what the front office has on the trade table, I would assume they are discussing all options to help stabilize OL. If Slater is on the Block I would want a starter back in that deal. I would have to assume if there is a team that thinks Slater could be an upgrade next year they could have a OL player to trade back.

Baltimore traded us a Pass rusher and turned around and traded for another Pass rusher. It will be interesting to see and hear the trades that happen today.

Reality is this:

We've suffered two massive torpedoes, and multiple stray bombs into this year's BATTLESHIP OFFENSE. That, while we entered this Pacific campaign lacking a solid IOL. I try to value what I know to be true, not what I want to be true. Some of you actually think we can salvage the o-line this year? Some of you certain Omarion will return in a meaningful way this year, before it's too late? Pollyanna thinking, IMO.

This offensive line is pure dog shit at this point, and there's virtually no way to remedy even a fragment of it, without being stupid towards future considerations.

I like BoltNut's approach: Protect Herbert by running the ball tons even if that diminishes immediate returns. Ride with an occasional mix of Herbert magic and the defense's fiber. Maybe we catch magic in a bottle, but don't for a moment think it won't be pure magic to get past one playoff win.

Sorry if some don't want to hear it: The story now is primarily about next season. I sure as hell don't like saying it, but it's just the truth.

I have to agree. The problem of the “dogshit” OL you described is all the remaining OT’s….Pipkins, Salyer, Deculus, and Hart have missed games with injuries this season, so substitutions from game to game are likely to continue.

The Alt blow appears to be just one too many but like I said to my esteemed and worthy debate friend dmac yesterday, who explains how the glass is half full to my half empty takes….lets take it one game at a time and see how they manage against Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh has a formidable pass rush which can be a useful litmus test for whether the OL can or can not handle the rest of the season.

Who knows, we might come out of the other side of that game with renewed hope and enthusiasm if the OL can hang and Gro can get creative.

Yes, there are desperate GMs out there right now trying to do the bidding of a very pissed owner to rebuild next year. Rumors are the Jets want a 3rd for RB Breece Hall but at 1PM eastern he’s basically a UFA and the Jets get NOTHING. SO, I bet they play ball..
Also Pipkins and Salyer are the best the Chargers will get at OT at this point. Hart was annnounced to not go on IR and getting a Zeitler would be huge.

Bengals should trade Trey - as the best they would get is a 2027 3rd - and thats if they play the comp pick game
Other teams - the Titans should offload Zeitler, if he is willing, Key, etc -

Not every player will net a comp pick so if you are the Saints - they should be trading Jordan, Davis, Taysom Hill, Shaheed

As for the Chargers - Center should be an option --and OT

Other than the Colts, the Chargers have the best AFC record at 5-1
If they at worst split, that is 6-2. If they sweep that is 7-1 with tiebreakers over the Jags and Steelers

Don't need to go crazy with draft assets but there are deals to be made.

I have a sneaking suspicion we will end up with a fairly healthy number of draft picks.

Hortiz knows the NFL game is a game of talent level and of attrition.

Can't wait for 1pm, although nothing burger is an item on the menu too.

Many backup centers just haven't seen the field this year .... Boze could be well lower than 34rth.

Money Smith on BLEAV in Chargers today said it’s going to be really hard to get a starting OT. Smith said Becton has played 53% of the snaps this year. So he’s been injured for half the year. They need a RG and another RB BAD. Smith said they are willing to use 2027 picks and then trade back in the 1st and accumulate picks for trench players.
Hampton ain’t coming back until after the bye and that’s a maybe he comes back. Pollard or Hall are options at RB..
