I like following the Dallas example for team building. Which team will give us 3 first round picks and 3 second round picks for Najee Harris?

I don't see them building shit. Jim and Joe TALK about building a LOS team. they haven't done shit yet to accomplish this goal. ok, Fine, they drafted Alt. and a Rd 4 DT that couldn't even get on the field all year. We can talk about Alt again all 2025 like we talked about him all of last year, we can pat our backs until they are sore. Meanwhile our overall OL was a complete laughing stock disaster.

If they want a real LOS team and they have no lines on either side of the ball, which today they do not - they don't take a complete pass on signing any legitimately high quality veterans and "uh meh build through the draft". they would do all of the above with a fearless and impatient purpose: draft, sign, and trade until they fill both lines with ABOVE AVERAGE players. don't wait 3, 4, 5 fucking years or hope and pray a magic fairy turns late Day3 comp picks and unwanted discarded vets into hidden Day1 gems.

its the most egoist hubristic thinking imaginable to presume they are smarter than all other 31 teams combined and will get superior players by letting every other team pick their players first. Do they really think that no other team knows about the "comp pick game"? Are all other teams just blindly signing FAs with no clue that it will effect their next comp calculation? or perhaps, just maybe, they have figured out that getting actual superior players is a better bet than hoping for a fucking late Day3 comp pick that turns into a unicorn elite starter?

Well, he had a lot of help from the Vikings making a ridiculous trade with him for Herschel Walker, along with the 49ers stupidly trading him Charles Haley. Lol.

But the point is valid. Winning team-builders like Johnson, Belichick, and Newsome build primarily through the draft and don't overspend on free agents they don't think can help them in the long run. I'm sure Hortiz and Harbaugh would have signed someone to a huge contract if they thought he was worth it. They also increase their draft picks through trades and the compensatory selection game so they will have more chances to hit on good players. It's a winning formula that has proven to be successful.

Exactly right, Johnson did it with a grip of draft picks. Hortiz has a grip of draft picks this year. Once fans accept the fact we are a team like The Cowboys, Pats and Ravens were and are, the anxiety will pass and patients will set in! We will sign key free agents here and there, but we won't load up on aging free agents looking for their pay day. It's that simple.

I can name a million teams who have loaded up on free agents and won nothing! The Cowboys, Pats, and Ravens all have won SUPERBOWLS!

They also may sign one of the OG's free agents still available.

None of these “good players” left over are going to sign now.
They are waiting for the draft when teams don’t get what they want and they need a contingency plan and these good players can take advantage.

Something is brewing. Maybe one of the resident cap gurus here can clarify, but don’t they have to spend close to 89% of their cap space, per NFL rules? According to OTC, they still have $83 mil left (less Dye’s contract, which won’t be much). For sure, they’ll rinse & repeat with a bunch more 1 year prove it value deals. But presumably, that still leaves room for some larger dollar contracts. So who are they saving it for??

Don't worry the Chargers won't use all their top draft picks on the Oline. I think you may be thinking about the wrong thing. No one trusts Harbaugh and Hortiz anymore after not signing a bunch of free agents. Why?

Might mean Loveland will fall to us? As opposed to outbidding Denver for a 30 year old TE coming off a major injury that can't block so well. Denver may be desperate! Maybe Hortiz and Harbaugh were playing chess to Denver's checkers with Evans, for Loveland, by us bringing him in. You never know!
