My theory is try to earn it. James is playing against third string depth. Kick their asses. Pancake some Saints. Starting LG and C aren't engraved in stone yet.

Mike Iupati was the good one. I think Boone? Was the other OG

The depth chart isn't a final right now. Its a preliminary projection. It can, and it will change. Hopefully at OC as well but I'm not feeling that.

Hard to believe. The Pope and Jim are friends I'm sure. He's been blessed as a HC it appears.
        USD- Pioneer League Champs
        Stanford- Orange Bowl Champs
SF- 3 Conf Champ Games and a SB loss
Mich 3 Big 10 Champs and a National Championship
LAC 1st season - loses a playoff game.
Jim is better than the average HC for sure and when we were HC shopping most PBs thought him a best choice.
Now apparently respect is lacking due to 2 IOL choices. I'm not that easily discouraged.
        Go Jim Harbaugh's Bolts!

The question is obvious. He's done a great job with Alt and hasn't hurt Slater's game but the interior didn't set the line on fire. If I'm Jim it'll get better or I'm looking for a new OL coach. Oddly our former starting C Nick Hardwick hasn't been much help coaching C and OG. I'd give them 2025 to have more impact on IOL.

They had three 1st rounders LT Staley, LG Iupati and RT Davis. Along with Frank Gore.

I was never completely sold on Devlin as the Oline coach. I would be poaching any assistant Oline coach from a team that has had a top Oline the past few years. Lions assistant Oline Coach Steve Oliver is one of keep my eye on. 3 years under Hank Fraley is a quality resume. I’d keep Hardwick as the assistant.

I am going to have to sharply disagree with Bolt Blitz and everyone on this one. It is a mistake to make Mike Devlin the fall guy.

Devlin has had underperforming IOL to deal with. He has put in hours trying to coach up some instinctive play from players who are not instinctive.

Maybe the Chargers should have drafted Tyler Linderbaum in 2022, who Devlin had a hand in developing. Or Creed Humphrey. Or Landon Dickerson. Or Zach Frazier. Or Graham Barton.

I have been clamoring for a solid Center since the tail end of Hardwick's career, at the beginning of the Telesco era.

Would you like to go through the list of wrong turns and mishaps ? There's Chris Watt. There's Matt Slauson. There's Max Tuerk. There's the all too brief Charger careers of Mike Pouncey and Corey Linsley.

Give the man something to work with.

Houston just brought it to a head. Over the season lack of depth at RB, WR and TE was the greatest offensive handicap. That has definitely been addressed. They took Pip away from Boze and instead made RG one of the positions of strength. That's an obvious positive added to Boze' game.
One hopes that the experience at C will help Zion recognize and make the correct blocking adjustments. With a high IQ and top physical strength, he needs to show the F up and do his job. Get Zion on track and Becton controlling his space, Herbert with multiple run and receiving options, Boze SHOULD be adequate or better. Harbaugh appears believe that to be the case and I strongly doubt that Jim is betting the Chargers future on Bradley Bozeman with no alternative in mind.

All that said, I believe in Jim. Period. That's the rock I lean on. I very much look forward to New Orleans at LA. Go Bolts!
All signs are we won’t see them all play as a starting 5 until Brazil so we got 3 more weeks to wonder and fret about it

if he’s got players unable to physically execute plays, maybe its not on him. If he has players who constantly don’t know what they are supposed to do, or how to do basic handoffs against a stunt etc., thats coaching. The only reason Slater and Alt look so great is they are just out their on their island, taking that best edge player on the outside of the defense like a boss, they dont have inside stunts and blitzes and overloads that require them to do something else.

I don’t believe in Devlin. He couldn’t coach our IOL up in 18 games last year, why will he coach them up in the next 18?

He's coached a long time. Harbaugh knew exactly what he was getting in Devlin.

Good fer Wu! glad to see you take Devlin's side. The asst coaches were all Harbaugh hires and I think pretty highly of Jim.
