Out of the top 3 defenses in the NFL, 2 of them (Seattle and Broncos) have the top seeding in both conferences.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post
So basically Kennard was Dupree. My hope for Kennard is he takes a leap like Eboigbe did this year with a full off-season with Ben Herbert and the coaching staff
Now, I am not overlooking the defensive side of the ball. Front 7 -- Edge, IDL, LB -- all need to be reviewed. But if there was a way to form a defense that produces similar results as this year, thats pretty stout.
It’s all about Oline for me. I think players like Ladd, QJ, Orande would be bigger weapons if the Oline were better. Hampton at RB too. I know I threw out Pierce - as I think that guy can play - but he is going to get tagged. Indy won't let him leave.
IOL might be the #1 priority but next years schedule is likely to be harder….Certainly Raiders and Chiefs….so an improved defense versus status quo should be on Hortiz’s radar.

Broncos also have one of the best Olines in football - based on one graphic, top 3 probablyOriginally posted by Riverwalk View Post

Seattle even has an OLine that is much better than the Chargers, same graphic, probably in the low 20's
So yes, having a good defense is important but both of those teams have much better OLines even with much worse QBs
If the Chargers have a similar defense by ranking next year - though I will always want more pass rush ---but improve the Oline from 32nd to middle of the pack - I think the team will improve. If the Oline doesn't improve from 32, the defense can't help that much
As for nextg y ear - the Raiders are shit and the Chiefs are in a transition year

Don't think the back up position is in Rivers cards, and Roman HC? I KNOW YOURE KIDDING...OC I'd love to see ( Rivers)....Originally posted by Vedont thin rlo View PostMaybe Greg Roman will get a head coaching job and Philip Rivers can come be both the Chargers' OC and Herbert's backup.

They shouln't put Wax back in its jar, eh, I mean back on the PS.Originally posted by jamrock View PostI didn't see yesterday's game but the guy I've been curious about is Marlowe Wax. Had a stellar pre season to make the team and seems like he distinguished himself yesterday. Would be huge as Junior Colson may never give us anything

Oweh had 0 sacks with the Ravens before he came over to the Chargers. Sometimes it's just scheme fit.Originally posted by DerwinBosa View Post
Respectfully, I'm passing on Chaisson. First-round pick in 2020. Had five sacks in four years with the Jaguars. He's had 12.5 sacks for the Raiders and Patriots the last two seasons, which is good for him. Probably gets overpaid this offseason, though. Too risky for me.1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Jenkins (OG- 12m)

Even if that was true, it doesn’t excuse having a DUI. Get an Uber. No need to put other people’s lives at risk because of your personal problems.Originally posted by wu-dai clan View Post

You are correct. None of the skill positions can be properly assessed until we see the full potential of the offense and the QB. That means competent level NFL blocking to allow the QB reasonable time to make reads and throws and for routes to develop and RBs to not be smothered at the tine of scrimmageOriginally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post
He is a true #1 WR
Ladd is a good 2
QJ is a good 2/3
And I like what I have seen from Harris and KLS. But Pierce I think is a true number 1
Its not going to happen -- as the Colts won't let him leave the building - but he would help the position. That said, I think a better OLine will help the WR, TE and RB

I'm going to have respectfully disagree. QJ has morphed into the #1 WR this year and he is going to be even better next year. The main reason I disagree is because if you watch full field replays you see him several times open downfield, but Herbert is getting a ton of pressure. Unfortunately for us fans we don't have the luxury of seeing it on tv. I posted a video against the Texans where QJ was open deep over the middle, but the pressure was in Herbert's face. This has been a reoccurring theme since week 4ish.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

Improve the oline specifically pass blocking and we will see different results. IMHO, WR is probably one of the least needs right now.1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
