Thank gawd the coach and GM ignored all the noise calling for the Chargers to draft a WR at #5 in last year's draft. Without Alt right now the team would be screwed.

The Browns have a veteran RT who is a former All-Pro, Jack (not related to Tyler) Conklin. I guess if I were the Chargers GM I'd be looking to trade for a legit RT who can be plug and play at the position. Conklin has played 9 NFL seasons for the Titans (who drafted him 8th overall in 2016) and Browns and will be 31next week. He did miss all of 2023 with a torn ACL and MCL. He played in 12 games last season. I think he's under contract through 2026 at about $5.6 mil per. The Browns are going nowhere this year. Maybe Hortiz can persuade the Browns to trade Conklin for a day 3 pick. I don't know, I'm just grasping at straws.

The more I read about the injury the worst I feel... It needs long rehab and then managing the knee if he come back to play, braces will be a need, high chances it is career altering injury.

Infamous players for similar injury:

Cadillac Williams, Ryan Williams, Victor Cruz, Jimmy Graham.

Those were guys who had to run much more than Slater to keep their jobs in the NFL. Any offensive linemen with this injury?

Can we include players from other positions? I wish Damion Square missed games. He did get hurt in a preseason game in 2019. But then he was able to get up from from his fall and was fine.

I think there is going to come a time where if a player doesn't play at least a half season the guarantees should be cut in half as well. How can the NFL continue to operate when players are demanding huge guarantees but there are no guarantees that they show up to play for an entire season. Bad enough that a team loses a player for an entire season but we also have to foot the bill. I've been saying for years that these guarantees are gonna back fire and all I've seen is massive explosions year in and year out. The burden should be shared as the player does not have to experience difficulties week in and week out for an entire season. I hope Slater has his box of Raisan Bran ready!

What about the player? Football is a violent sport, injuries are a constant, a given. A player like Slater gives 100 percent on the field, gets injured, and he should be penalized financially for that?

ouch!....Slater's injury history was a part of the reason we drafted Alt over Bowers...

at least we still have a stud LT(which you need with a right handed QB).....
