Let's pump the brakes for now. I like Kaltenberger's upside as you do, but Devlin has no track record developing the interior. Unless Branson Taylor, Kaltenberger and Salyer (at LT or LG) play above level and Pipkins returns to his 2022 form, I wouldn't get excited. At Houston, Devlin had good tackles and poor interior play. So far, that has carried over to the Chargers.

Maybe Jim should look at poaching Grant ******* from Michigan to be our Oline coach. I'd rather pay above average salary to an Oline coach who can plug-and-play linemen like Clinkscale and Minter do with the DBs, and Elston does with the Dline than have mediocre performances on the interior from Devlin's chosen starters.

I don't think the OL's problems are at coaching !

The Ravens invest in OL. Devlin helped develop IOL there before coming to the Chargers. It will take consistent work over several years to build a Ravens type OL in LA.

Here's a partial list of names:
        --Pat Mekari 19/UDFA
        --Ben Cleveland 21/3
--Kevin Zeitler 21/UFA '24 Pro Bowler
--Tyler Linderbaum 22/1 3 time Pro Bowler
        --Daniel Faalele 22/4
        --Andrew Vorhees 23/7

Right now our big issue is tackle depth.

All this information, including archived depth charts, is available for each of you to personally scrutinize at Ourlads.
You can also look at transactions, ie free agent signings and player movement.

Or you can just follow matushka in Houston and his narrow thinking.

Kaltenberger had a PFF score of 40 yesterday. I think he had the worst grade on the entire team, but he may have just been in the worst / bottom 3.

Respectfully, we don't know whether Devlin's impact on the Ravens Oline was integral and significant as just an assistant coach, considering Joe D'alessandris was stewarding that Oline even with their injuries, retirements and FA leaves and just general shuffling before Devlin arrived there as an assistant for a 2-year stint. Obviously, I'll reserve some judgment until we draft some interior linemen higher in the draft to see if they will be developed into great starting pieces by Devlin, but what I've seen and remember from his tenures with the Jets and the Texans where he was the de facto steward of the offensive line, it wasn't very pretty other than a few bright spots, particularly in the tackle position.

There was a lot of shuffling on the interior to really gauge and have any definitive takeaways. We had Zion at C and G, James at C and G, Kaltenberger at C and G, Barnhart at G before he went down, etc. You can't really expect much when the personnel shift that much, and Kaltenberger, in particular, has probably never had any practice reps with the majority of the IOL groupings he had next to him. I don't even know if Kaltenberger is getting snaps with the 3rd team offense -- I don't think he has any chemistry with James or Zion or Salyer, maybe only with Barnhart.

I think the IOL is not set yet.

The question is not gonna be "should we fire Devlin ? "

It's gonna be "should we have drafted Zabel ? "

Have you seen what my draft-crush Treyveon Henderson has been doing for the Pats?
lots to unfold. Hampton must rise to expectations.
