Sounds like you're not fully convinced for 2025Originally posted by wu-dai clan View PostIt is great to see Herbert using play action and throwing on early downs. That's GRo.
Minter's shell style defense has been suffocating, vs Rice, Worthy -less Chiefs, and Bowers -less Raiders. How will we do vs teams with available elite weapons, and minus Khalil ?
It is excellent to see Harbaugh managing games smartly. To beat us, opponents will have to beat us, lol, not us beating ourselves.
Wait until we have one more draft, Slater/Khalil, and the coming huge cap space. Trending solid. Trending up, up, up.

Just like with Bosa in Buffalo - he is balling - but its early. Not wishing injury on Joeys Bosa but time will tellOriginally posted by Velo View Post
You would have a point if Hampton were contributing to the Chargers' offense. But he's not at this point. I'm not calling him a bust, I just question drafting an RB in the 1st round. Especially when Dobbins was still an option, and now he's one of the league's best rusher and is scoring tuddies for the Broncos.
I don't disagree about Dobbins but he has the injury history.
I said Hampton was going to be better than Gordon and Mathews - and maybe the bar is low for those two but I see it. Just need some time. And I am good with the pass first offense --- as for me, about damn time!

I ain't messing with Minter. He has his reasons. Meanwhile our D is #3 at fewest points allowed. It's early, we're winning.Originally posted by gzubeck View Post
Yes, this is weird. What's up with Kennard not even getting rotational snaps. No way in the world he is that bad.

I'm so pleased with the pass blocking that I hesitate to bitch about run blocking. I think it will come with experience together.Originally posted by richpjr View PostThe criticism of Hampton is really weird, considering how mediocre the run blocking from the offensive line has been. Can people really not see the lack of holes to run through for anyone? Hampton has converted 4 3rd or 4th and short runs to keep drives alive when there was zero holes and he just bulldozed his way to first downs. If the run blocking improves, his numbers will go up.
While writing off people, consider that Gadsen and Kennard have not even been active yet - don't forget to bury them too.

NH had 8 carries for 28 yards = 3.5 avgOriginally posted by Riverwalk View Post
The other upside is we now know Harris is 100% and a force to be reckoned with.
The RB that needs to improve is Hampton.
Way too early to call him a bust but I never liked the pick.
OH had 8 carries for 24 yards = 3.0 avg
I don't see how some are making such huge differential conclusions based on last night's game. Its almost as if some can only remember the last run they saw.
More importantly, I don't know how anyone could watch OH get blasted multiple times in the backfield by 2 and 3 defenders who were allowed to crash the backfield practically untouched and conclude lack of production on those plays was his fault. I saw a lack of run blocking, is what I saw.
Jury is still out, they have just sat down and haven't even ordered sandwiches yet - jmo. LCB is 100% right - chill on OH is the appropriate response at this point.Justin Herbert 2026 MVP Watch

what I read here is your predetermined negative bias affects your ability to assess him fairly.Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post
I’m just being consistent with my draft day opinion. I didn’t like the pick and said so.
The young man and brain trust that drafted will have to earn my appreciation but I hope he improves and proves me wrong.

I could say your predetermined positive bias affects your ability to assess him fairly too but it’s not the type of cheap shots I take when someone disagrees with me.Originally posted by dmac_bolt View Post

Harbaugh: (to Minter) Get my defense SB ready (exits out of ice bath with khakis on). If we win the big game you'll be the new HC of SB MVP Justin Herbert.Originally posted by sonorajim View Post

Minter: Where you going coach?
Harbaugh: Prepping my RV for new khakis at Walmart....then to Canton.

lol don't what-about-ism it, its not the same. you literally just said he was a bad draft pick and thats why you think he is not good. you rated Harris last night as excellent and Hampton as bust over 4 yards difference.Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post

I said the jury is out on OH because we have not seen anything close to decent run blocking in either game. What I saw last night was bad run blocking and him getting hit in the backfield repeatedly. if you think that is not a fair unbiased evaluation of last night, its because you're biased.Justin Herbert 2026 MVP Watch

I am very optimistic about 2025, especially with our surprising pass first mindsight. First down is the best down to pass on.Originally posted by jamrock View Post

Playing sound if not spectacular defense fits too. Special Teams, field position and clock management makes us a tough out.

That is a good point alsoOriginally posted by Heatmiser View Post
I actually think this is more because the Chargers have not really even tried to run the ball than bad blocking or poor RB. You can’t pass 80% of the time and then expect the run to be a coordinated machine. And most of the time, they are running on 3rd or 4th and very short when the box is completely stacked and teams are run blitzing. They need to run more to run better.
The Chargers gave Hampton 2 carries in the first half. Pretty hard for any RB to get into a rhythm that way
