It's so shocking that an interior offensive lineman Tom Telesco drafted is struggling. He did such a great job of drafting centers and guards for us.

He played at Oregon. Yes 1 full season n 2023 at OC but had snaps in both the other seasons as well. Way more than Zion has but that dont stop some here from saying we should move him.Originally posted by powderblueboy View PostThat's pretty easy to fix.
Harbaugh would have JPJ snap in shot gun until he's blue in the face,
kind of like what they did with QJ's over the shoulder pass catching problems.
He only started center one year at Utah.
Bring him in!
They tried, they didnt like it.
If they (Joe-Jim) THINK they can do something with JPJ....id give a 2027 - 7th, otherwise he hasnt been that good in the NFL. We talking about protecting Herb and his pass blocking isnt good. Right there with Bozemans.
And if Pete doesnt think much of him, he will trade him to Harbaugh.....but if he thinks he has potentual in any way, he isnt going to help Harbaugh lol.

Its unfair of you to overlook his tremendous OT drafting prowess and narrowly focus on the interior. He did land a great OT in his 10th year, yet for some he took too long? Geez - how fast do people expect a guy to move around here?Originally posted by DerwinBosa View Post

(edit - may have been his 8th or 9th, I don’t care enough to look)
Give him another 10 years and I guarantee he would have locked down an elite OC. Rome was not built in a day, fella!Justin Herbert 2026 MVP Watch

Chip Kelly's been living off his Oregon success for years and is past his expiration date. Got fired in Philly, flamed out at UCLA and now with Pete has the Raiders playing unwatchable football.Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post
With the Raiders Oline catching a lot of heat, Chip Kelly attempted to defend playing former top college center Jackson Powers-Johnson at guard.
Chip Kelly said:
"Because Jordan [Meredith] did a better job in preseason camp at playing center for us in terms of what we want, call wise, putting us in the right protections, doing all those things," said Kelly. "I think Jordan is what you're looking for in a center in this league. He reminds me a little bit, I'm not going to say he is, but he reminds me a lot of Jason Kelce that I had when I was in Philly. He's got a long way to go. Jason's a Hall of Famer, but he's that type of player. We were really excited about what Jordan's doing at center."
"He's a bigger body, and I think that's one reason why he's a better guard," Kelly added." of He's built more like a guard than he is like a center. Jordan's [Meredith] built a little bit more like a [Jason] Kelce, an athletic guy, pull, get out in space, all those other things. Jackson [Powers-Johnson] is a tough, hard nose. There's a lot of big 3-techniques in this league, so to have a, 'How do you handle a guy at the 3-technique or having a bigger body at the guard spot' is what he is, and his toughness is always a positive to what we're doing."

I couldn’t be happier. The problem is his contract. They need to extend him now so he has the security comfort level to truly unleash his brillianceOriginally posted by jamrock View Post

Okay, Chip Kelly has someone who fits his conception of a center to run his zone blocking schemes.Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post

Kelly is primarily a zone guy .... Chargers are more power.
Meridith at 27, picked up the center position more rapidly than JPJ.
At Western Kentucky, he was a right guard .... so no edge there in experience at center.
JPJ is overwhelmed. Maybe he doesn't have the requisite mental edge to succeed at the position.
Quite frankly, Boseman probably lacks this at well.
If he's somewhat obtuse, then don't bring him in.
Otherwise, a possible steal .... but you'd have to sit him for a while.
He's not going to enhance your team this year, except as a 3rd string guard.
BTW, that Raider offense seems to be rolling.

Bozeman’s official player picture looks like a guy who got arrested in Nebraska for tipping cows after closing down the saloon with his buds from the meat processing plant. He’ll show them fucking cows what fer … Mensa material for sure.Originally posted by powderblueboy View Post

Chargers will bring in a starting center in the draft.
None of this Ione from Penn State hype, who plays LG and would be shifted to center.
How smart is Ione?
No one here knows.
I liked Booker last draft because he had little conventional athleticism, but had tons of balance, power, footwork and smarts.
He's doing well in Dallas; looks to be a foundational piece for the next decade.
That's what i'm looking for in the next center.
Not the mountains who forklifts or pancakes college DTs and can run straight ahead like gazelles.

Brains first in a C. The ability to lead and make adjustments on the fly. Dancers and forklifts are useful but smarts, leadership and reactions first.Originally posted by powderblueboy View PostChargers will bring in a starting center in the draft.

I get what you are saying but with olinemen and dlinemen I think it's difficult to say if they suck in one place, they will suck somewhere else. Schemes play a big part into whether they are successful or not. Maybe JPJ is a better fit with the Chargers than the Raiders. I'm not saying he is but using him as an example. I honestly don't know because I suck at evaluating olinemen but that is what the coaches and scouts are for..lolOriginally posted by Boltjolt View Post
If they don't want him with their OL, why do we? He has been up and down there. According to salted PFF , his pass blocking is horrendous (47.3).,.....been watching that the last 2 seasons.1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Jenkins (OG- 12m)

I would love for the Chargers to draft Ioane to play OG and draft Foster or Laloulu to play OC. That is my early thoughts.Originally posted by powderblueboy View PostChargers will bring in a starting center in the draft.
