We aren't getting any next year
The official formula is somewhat secret, but plenty of people have back-engineered it so there aren't a whole lot of surprises anymore.
Comp picks are only figure as part of the net loss of FA. Resigning your own guys doesn't count. Not signing FA from other teams helps get picks, losing your own guys helps. But it also figures in much the player leaving or new players are signed for. If you lose a really good player (someone who is paid a ton) and only resign a cheap replacement, then you get a good comp pick.
Over the cap has a page laying it all out. We lost Fulton, Palmer and Ford, but signed Becton, Donte Jackson and Najee Harris.
The league rules governing it are spelled out here

Nikko Reed was a great signing. The more he plays the more plays he makes. Hart has been getting assigned the top opposition receiver each game and has largely delivered. Jackson is playing out of his mind. Mickens gets better every game. I think some teams are going to make a hard play for Clink as their DC. He is a magician.Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

I'm thinking we have too few draft picks and a lot of cap money to spend = we won't earn any comp picks going forward to 2027. I also don't think we get any in 2026 either but not sure - I recall someone investigated it here and said no.Originally posted by Leslie Grossman View PostWhat are we thinking in terms of incoming comp picks?

Reed and Mickens are both part of the future. Reed made that one huge PD, a great play on the ball.Originally posted by Heatmiser View PostNikko Reed was a great signing. Was Minter really moving Hart side to side to go with WR1, or did PIT just consistently line up WR1 on Hart's side (I don't know)? Hart is still learning - he's got talent but still (more than?) occasional technique breakdown. He is having less and less mistakes as we go. He's a good talent, still learning, still more upside. and that RB vault - Hart dropped his head and was looking at the turf - didn't even see the RB leap over him. Gotta keep that head up, eyes on the prize young man. Still is still the better of the two, by a decent margin. But look at that - building a DB group with late Day 3 and UDFA that is near tops in the league - amazing work by Joe, and then Minter and Clink.
CB is a tough position to play - requires constant discipline and slight mistakes are glaring because they go far. NFL WRs are really good.Justin Herbert 2026 MVP Watch
