What's really crazy is OG didn't play in the 1st couple of games of the season.1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Jenkins (OG- 12m)

They do have the money. Which is why I think they should sign the best they can @IOL. Signing your own FA's early helps with the compensatory formula. But you also should know who will hit the open market. IMO, Hortiz will wait until the very last minute before open free agency. If a guy like McGovern hits the open market, then that is a proven player that helps you improve the center position... and helps you use your draft capital elsewhere.Originally posted by Jack Burton View Post
It’s looking like they will need at the minimum 3 new players on the O line. And they keep one of those guys as a swing you mentioned. Hell, maybe 2. Fortunately, they have the money to do it.
The same will be true in regards to Zion @LG. See what he's asking... see who else hits open free agency @OG...
I suspect the free agent depth @OG to be fairly deep. I have no idea what happens @OG. There appears to be many options (FA or draft) and it's good to have all of that cap space.
My dream scenario would be Brady Christensen @LG, Jake Slaughter @OC, and Ed Ingram @RG.
But those free agents would have to be available... and you'd have to be willing to draft Slaughter in the 2nd.Protect the QB

I am not sure the Chargers will have the free agents to make a difference in the cap formula.Originally posted by Boltnut View Post

Allen and Mack are ten year vested vets - the most they can bring back is a 5th
Conklin
Perryman
I don't expect the Chargers to be players in the comp pick game -- and personally, if Hortiz can sign better players, I will gladly give up the 6th or 7th rounder in 2027

Yes, with serious o line needs, with only 5 draft picks...the Chargers need to be serious players in free agency. Comp picks cannot be the priority this off season, Seriously contending in year 3 of JH2 should be the goalOriginally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

Unless they re-sign a lot of the free agents they have. Mack, KA, and Perryman are players I hope they re-sign. If you re-sign them before the official start of free agency, they don't count against the comp calculation.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

Mack, Tart, Hand, Perryman, St. Juste, Oweh, Jones, Zion, Harris, Pipkins, Penning, Lance, Vidal, Fisk... any of these guys could provide quality starts or be quality depth. Any that you don't/can't re-sign become guys that get signed by other teams and you can count toward comp calculations.
I'm not promoting this approach... only saying that it could be done. In that scenario, you would only need to sign 2 or 3 free agents outside of your own. My preferred outside free agents would be IOL.Protect the QB

This is why I can see Hortiz being active trading back in the draft to get some draft picks.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

Titans released Quandre Diggs. This is a signing I could see Hortiz making. Help add depth at the safety spot especially with the injuries to Jefferson.1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree

I thought they don’t ever count if you re-sign your own, but I’m not close to sure about that. Can’t you fix that rule as ********?Originally posted by Boltnut View Post

I am not against signing their own free agents but if there are better options - find the better option
