Tart is replaced by the 2nd rounder Lee Hunter. I just couldn’t afford Tart in this mock up.
Pierce to me will garner close to a 2024 Calvin Ridley type deal.
I think they could afford Tart. I’d offer 3 years $21. With how they structure contracts and cap hits every year, they can do it. I would love to see Tart, Hand Caldwell, Lee Hunter and Eboigbe as the rotation.

As far as RB, I’m all for signing Tyler Allgeier. You can probably get him for $5 APY. Hampton, Allgeier and Vidal would be an awesome trio. Hammer after Hammer after Hammer would wear defenses down. Especially with an OLine with Slater, David Edwards, Linderbaum, Brian Parker and Alt.

Bryce Hall RB, Alex Pierce WR, and/or Goedert TE would be really good pickups for the offense.

Nice thing about this offseason there is a bunch of ways they could go. It's going to be exciting.
I've supported that type of approach several times. I also would support a commitment to one really good IOL like a Linderbaum. a team roster can be constructed either way. My one hard angry rant is do not bring back the 2025 IOL.

I’m not opposed to keeping QJ, I just think Pierce would be an upgrade.

As far as Dissly, I’m not sure why he fell out of favor. If they use him like they are suppose to, he’s worth $4 mil. If they use him like they did this year, he’s not worth $4 mil.
QJ still has two fundamental problems he hasn’t overcome. Separation and contested catches.

Trade him if anyone is sucker enough.

Tart was the best DL this year like Ford was last year. We got lucky with Tart raising his game to Fords level but we can’t expect that to happen every year by letting these guys go. Keep Tart on the team and let him bat down more passes next year.

I think a QJ trade would be a "trash for trash" - meaning maybe just a swap of players that might need new homes. I don't see a high draft pick. Granted, he is schedule to make about $2.7m - maybe a team drops a 5th rounder for him. I don't see a 3rd like Jack Burton thinks

You are right, he has trouble getting open and iffy on those contested catches.

A better OC and OL coach is going to make everyone on the IOL much better. Kind of like what happens with an elite,QB versus a guy with an atheletic arm but holds it forever.

There’s no need to shoot the entire wad on IOL.

If you’re right and it’s only a 5th then I wouldn’t do it either. But if Jack Burton is correct and he could fetch a 3rd, then I would.

Agreed! Each OC that has been here can’t figure out how to use him. I truly felt like they had QJ playing what Harris was drafted for. Square peg, round hole! They need to use QJ all over the formation to get the ball in his hand because of his YAC. I’m hoping the new OC finally figures it out.

Seperation and contested issues? Great, put him in motion for free releases, quick game, jet sweeps, reverses, crossers, line him up in the back field and do a screen with him or a wheel route. Figure it out OCs, that is what your job is.

For OC and pass game Corrdinator I vote for Nate Scheelhaase as OC and JT Barrett as Pass Game Corrdinator. The thought of mixing a McVay mind and a Ben Johnson mind for Herbert sounds exciting. They say that JT Barrett is a big reason for the creative plays behind Ben Johnson.

One question though. Is moving from QB coach to Pass Game Corrdinator a promotion?

Like many, or at least quite a few folks on here, I have stood up for QJ during the last 2 years but with the recent upheavals, the FO must finally consider correcting this TT era mistake. I would not be so ungenerous to call QJ as trash but at the very best he was drafted one round too early in the 2023 draft and although I think that he would have been drafted by some other team in the mid 2nd round then, with hindsight that would have also been a reach for picking him.

I think that if his trade value is a mere 5th in the off season then I would probably wait and only consider that if they can lock up a true FA WR1 / X receiver.

That's the camp I'm in. Get a new OC and OL coach in here and let them evaluate the players and go from there.

Chargers have to keep Tart and they easily can afford him. They can afford Hand, Oweh and bringing in some key OL free agents
