Here’s another theory. It’s too hard to say whether it’s Roman’s poor schemes, Delvin’s coaching, abysmal player talent, or Herbert holds the ball too long and calls the wrong audibles. But I think all of the above needs improvement and Harbaugh’s tenure should be in jeopardy if next season it isn’t drastically improved.

LT Slater, Jamaree * guess Joe would be the first backup to Rashawn here, but grateful to have Salyer on the roster this go 'round
LG Zion, Branson Taylor * we've got 11 guys listed here, not to mention if Joe does anything in FA, and so doubt they go more than nine here
OC Parker Brailsford, Bryce Foster * gots no problem putting rooks in the pivot, as for some reason Andre never gained favor here, and Boze got the benefit of Joe passing on Jared Wilson or the like
RG Penning, Cleveland * would love to use our early draft picks on defense, and don't think Joe is gonna pay for two FA OGs, i.e. not the both of a Zion & Ed Ingram or the such, and.... not a fan of either of these guys intangibles, and.... Trevor can prolly back up RT as well, and maybe he works out.... dunno ??
RT Joe, Pips/Hart * think sentimental tenor is gonna be favoring Trey, and Bobby def played well enough to get consideration as a backup

Roman's Plans = Pretending he has a Top 10 run blocking team and have Herbert bail him out on offense when that doesn't materialize. I do agree that if he brings back Roman and the offense stinks badly again his job would be on the line. I would actually want Minter to assume the job because that's our only bright spot. Letting him walk would give me feelings like letting Steichen walk.

My hypothesis to Slater and Alt is that:

1. OT pass pro is more a loner natural instinct and athletic ability position. Can you mirror, move and reset, and stave off Edge rushers against the myriad of bull, spin, swim, dip, wide edge speed, and other moves. If edge players find certain moves you can't handle, they'll just pummel you with those moves.

2. OG pass pro is more reliant on inter-group cohesion, working as a team, recognition and reaction to defense attacks, handling effective switches and handoffs, etc. Coaching has a greater impact there.

OT interaction with IOL is more involved in rush blocking, and we did see Slater and Alt not synched with IOL players more in rush game vs pass pro.

Its just a theory ... idunno. Alt was elite pass pro on Day 1, Devlin didn't coach him up. Slater was elite pass pro before Devlin walked in the building. Both were less impressive in run blocking where the entire 5 need to work together as a unit.

When your Oline - by every metric that I have seen - is the worst in football, holding the ball too long is not really an option.

I thought I made it clear it was the all of the above theory.

Look no further than the Ravens regretting keep John over McDonald. The John that got axed a minute ago.

Now other coaches can have fun playing the "Action Jackson Show!" for a couple more years. John winning for so many years has kind of turned the roster into average. Probably similar to Vrable problems in Tennessee.

Your #2 would be the Texan game. It was defense, dropped passes, and Dickers 4 points of uncharacteristic misses that lost the game. Not Herbert.

What a shame because I think our #1’s would have won last weekend vs Denver and we would be #1 seed.

We wouldn't be #1 seed even if we beat Houston and Denver. Would have been 13-4. NE won 14.

Well, they probably won't tag him based on the cost of the OL tag
So at that point, do the Ravens pay him enough before FA
granted, with all the "chatter" out there -- like at the combine, his agent will know what the market is for Tyler Linberbaum

That said, if he does make it to free agency, the Chargers should be on the phone with him and Justin Herbert should be knocking on his door at 1 minute into the tampering period asking him to go to the Chargers with basically a note that says "you are the highest paid OC in football!!

No. It means competition for Linderbaum likely increased.

In addition to Ravens wanting to keep him, if the team John goes to needs a Center, that will be attractive to Linderbaum too.
