If that is the case and Oweh gets too expensive - signing somebody like Joseph Ossai or Chaisson could work as they are probably closer to what Oweh does, more of a speed guy than a bulk guy. Basically a bridge player to allow a draft pick to grow.

I think Hortiz will have options in lieu of Oweh -- if he gets to that Bonitto money (104/4) or Zion (more than Banks last year)

I'd rather draft an edge player in the 1st (2nd at the latest)... and use the money saved on IOL... or other player.

Oweh had 10+ sacks in 2024 .... not just a last year thing.

Again, if Minter was still DC, then you could mess around with the D chemistry.

Parker, Tuli, Mack ... pretty much identical parts ... Parker being several notches below last year's MacK - he'll have hit the rookie wall when entering the playoffs..

I would be pretty happy with that trio.
And like people have stated... Kennard was pretty productive in college... and could be a factor next year.

The other thing to consider... O'Leary likes to bring pressure on LB and safety blitzes.
Derwin is one of the best blitzers in the NFL... maybe Henly gets to add a trick to his bag...

With respect to Kennard - I would be very happy if he just improves like Eboigbe did from year 1 to year 2 - whatever that entails in terms of stats, not sure. But just a positive 4th or 5th edge rusher to add to the mix. It was noted by Jeremiah yesterday that the Seahawks didn't have one player with 10+ sacks this year - just a bunch of players for depth. I think the Eagles the same the year before. The bar is Bud Dupree - can Kennard get above that bar next year

Hell, we've had decades and decades of below-average OL's. We finally have OT's that can do it all... and we want average-to-below average IOL...?

When you have cap issues... I get it. But we don't have cap issues! They say the OL is the tip of the spear. They say we're OL-centric. Time to prove it!

we have not had a great OL since the days of Fouts when he had 4 pro bowlers and 2-3 are in HOF.....and it was really important back then because defenses were allowed to actually HIT QB's and dog pile on them.... with multiple people slugging, bitting, etc the QB trying to get him to let go of the ball......

true!...and we can extend Herbert to lower his cap number to gain more cash to finish the starting OL before the draft.... draft will add OL depth as well as DT/DE, LB, WR, RB, TE depth competition...LB, WR, RB, TE depth are day 3 picks....

Sonny Styles looks like another Seau style all round LBer..... it would be awesome if he could drop far enough for Chargers to get him.... we have not had a great LBer since Seau.....I know it won't happen but James never should have dropped to Chargers.....

I sure hope we can solve the OL in FA too we can draft Sadiq at 22..... though he might get drafted much higher like Loveland did....

The Chargers have the money to pay Ossai or Chaisson but they would still need to add Edge as well. But Ossai or Chaisson at $15 or under is much different if Oweh is truly getting $25+
Granted, one name to consider in the $15m range if you do lose Oweh would be John Franklin Myers - IDL. Good pass rusher from the interior. He could be such a complement to Mack and Tuli as well and you can still sign a guy like Clowney for one year too.

i don't think Oweh gets close to the $25 million figure ... the first half of last year will bring him down quite a bit. Can teams replicate his surroundings in LA? Tuli. Mack Minter ....?

In a scheme with the team who drafted him, he failed.

He doesn't look like a 6'5'' /240+ guy running out there ... but he doesn't really pop guys with his tackles either.
Seau had something like 14 sacks his junior season ... Bill walsh reportedly really wanted him.
