Look at both SB winners Philly and the Seahawks. Neither team had edges with over 10 sacks their SB years. What they had was a dominating IDL and rotated a lot at the edges and IDL. You don't need 10 sack edges you need solid depth so you can constantly rotate guys and keep them fresh, IMHO.Last edited by Chargers8491; 03-03-2026, 05:13 PM.1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). It is why John Franklin-Myers was so appealing to get that push from the IDL
It seems though -- he might be headed to TN - or that is a rumor they are interested.

Locking up a top 3 center in the NFL after your QB just got his shit pushed in all year is not overpaying. Especially after you just hired a new OC who wants to run some creative shit.Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post
If we can get McGovern for cheaper id be very fine with that. Id consider him a huge upgrade. Overpaying for a player isnt smart, serious franchise stuff.
But paying ton of money for Mack just doesn’t make sense.

Alex Pierce is going to get more on an AAV basis than Linderbaum
I can see Oweh getting close too Linderbaum money
Zion Johnson might be within a few milliuon on an AAV basic of Linderbaum
If Hortiz can get Linderbaum or McGovern - it will be well effing worth it.

Most likely to occur is either Linderbaum resigns with Ravens or he signs with Chargers. I don't think any other team is truly in the mix, or they are 3rd, 4th and 5th in line. Other teams may want to upgrade center spot, but they have a lot more work to do cap wise to to create the needed space to add Linderbaum.
Add in other things like Harbaugh, Hortiz, McDaniel, Herbert. Joe Alt. Hampton. Back to back 11 win seasons. Great defense and Kicker. There's is a lot to like about choosing the Chargers as his next football career move.
Chargers are the clear favorites to add him if he chooses a new team over remaining with Ravens.
Who has it better than us?

He’s also going to see the Chargers have no Guards so he could end up a Rolls Royce flanked by two Yugos.Originally posted by Critty View PostMost likely to occur is either Linderbaum resigns with Ravens or he signs with Chargers. And that “great defense”? Half the forum is ready to gut it to pay for Linderbaum.

Were you a Chargers fan when John Jefferson was traded from the Chargers to Green Bay?Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post

I only bring it up as I loved John Jefferson. To this day, for those three years, still one of the best WRs I have seen
And yet, the Chargers traded for Chandler after trading JJ and if you read Canepa, his reporting is that Fouts, Coryell, all thought Wes Chandler was better
So yes, there are sure things with retaining Khalill Mack for instance . But should they retain him at all costs - no matter what? You seem to think so. Plus, maybe Hortiz can find better. And replacing Oweh and Mack is not GUTTING the defense - it is just reallocating assets to improve another area of the team that is woefully deficient. I don't call moving on from Perryman or Dupree, gutting the team.
And note: the Chargers might be able to sign Linderbaum and still bring back Oweh and Mack. Yes, it is feasible and still sign an average guard - which would be better than Zion Johnson.
