[Whydachargers?]

In my opinion they are taking a contrarian strategy with the money they have. Instead of overpaying for high priced free agents, they go into the post draft cut season and have thier pick of the litter of IOL from teams that cut down post draft. They then get to maintain their comp picks and still fill pon. I don’t think they were in a position to do it the last two years but Hortiz has gotten the team where they can start getting value year after year like this.

I also wasn’t blown away by this IOL free agent class and I suspect neither were the chargers, getting a veteran good center for 10 mil a year was a steal they needed to get, but past that I’m happy they didn’t break the bank and left lots of cap flexibility for the gems that become available.

I agree. Although I was hoping we'd sign Chris Paul the football guard. He's an up and comer. The rest of the FA guards were 30+ and coming off a season-ending injury it seems.Much better to draft a guard - or three - with much less mileage/damage.

The point some of us are making is why not sign a veteran like Teller AND draft a good young guard. They certainly have the cap and money and if there is one thing we have learned is there is no such thing as too much o line depth.

They also might have a wink wink deal with a few players for post draft
meaning if they need a TE post draft, have a player
need still OG - have a player

Baltimore did this with Lamarr Houston one year - they just flaunted the comp pick game and signed Houston like a day after the comp pick deadline was over

Steelers the only team with their logo on only one side of their helmet.

The reason for that is due to the look it had in the original gold helmets.
In 1962, the team wanted to test the new logo's appearance on the gold helmets before committing to applying it to both sides.
The team decided to keep the, at the time, asymmetrical design, and it has remained that way ever since.

Here's my Post-FA-Wave-One Team Build Offense. Trying to work with what is available and realistic

A lot of new considerations.
-I spent almost all draft capital on defense
-Strange likely beats out Stephens, but we need some young IOL to develop, so the Iowa kid is onboard.
-Secure Wyatt Teller, because of course, dammit
-Pinter plays center and guard, moves really well
-Going all-in on Tight End, adding NJoku*. Some occasional three tight-end packages? Hell yeah.
-Add a burner who's rep has faded a bit: Hollywood Brown*
-I'd previously kicked Derius Davis off my team, but needed a returner, so he's back here.
-$8 mil unspent as I want some powder dry for a summer move, or a trade deadline move

*Sure hoping we can convince these two FA's to wait til after the draft to sign, because I'm on Team Comp Pick.

For defense: Massive Draft investment for our new DC

-And yes, with the paucity of CB depth on the roster I went big on corner (surprised myself). Remember we only have Jackson for one more year. Cam is OK, not special.

Abney has very good ball production with five interceptions and 17 pass breakups over the last two years, along with being a sound tackler.

Canady is rising up boards.

Clowney holds the edge and has decent pass rush. Big Citrus...is...well... big, sudden and sweet in run defense.
