Why would they do that? Its the fucking Patriots, the NFL thinks the Patriots are must watch these days? Sometimes these suits are jackwagons.Originally posted by jamrock View PostChargers v Patriots being flexed to Saturday Dec 28. Gives us one less day of the mini bye

It’ll be a fun journey, especially with all that cap space next year. I’m sure there were plenty of Lions fans that were unhappy with Dan Campbell’s first two seasons in Detroit (3-13 & 9-8). I’d wager there are a lot less these past two years (12-5, 12-2*).Originally posted by Topcat View Post
The longest journey begins with a single step...and I'm afraid this is going to be a 2-3 year journey...

They were probably very happy with the 9-8 season and being alive for a playoff shot til the end. Detroit had been a perennial loser before then and it was Campbell's first HC gig. Things started turning around for them when they fired Anthony Lynn as OCOriginally posted by Duck of Death View Post

You’re probably right. But 9-8 wasn’t until his 2nd season. Plenty of Lions fans wanted Campbell gone after he went 3-13 in his 1st year (worse than the 5-11 record that got Patricia fired the previous yr). My point is that it took Campbell 3 years to build a legit contender from a 5 win team. And he was the one that initially hired Lynn (another supposed run heavy OC), before letting him go after just one year. If you’re suggesting that Harbaugh follow the same pattern and hire a new OC in year 2, well I actually don’t think that’s out of the realm of possibility. Hopefully there would be a viable candidate available, which may or may not be the case. Ben Johnson worked out swimmingly for Detroit, but also recall that he was a 1st time OC. That is the conundrum - the best OCs usually have their eye on a HC gig. So most likely, it would have to come from the lower ranks, which of course can be hit or miss.Originally posted by jamrock View Post

Edit: Also, here’s a Detroit fan forum poll from ‘22 (their 9-8 season) on whether or not to fire Dan Campbell. Just sayin 😗
3 wins out of 6, would give us 7 on the season, I’d be fine with that. But anything less than that with our schedule would be a disappointment. I could see losses to the Jets and the Vikes, both have winning records. Gotta be able to beat the Jags, Bears and Panthers. The wildcard is the Packers in freezing Lambeau to end the season, are they playing to win? Are they in tank mode!? Is Jordan Love playing QB? It could be snowing and likely freezing. That game could go either way to me.Last edited by Duck of Death; 12-17-2024, 11:58 AM.

Not only did the Lions fire Lynn, but even before that, he was a lame duck OC who didn't even call the plays:Originally posted by Duck of Death View Post
