Maybe. I just struggle to see it still happening after 13 games. Slater and Alt are mostly alone on their outside islands taking care of their business like a boss and winning 1x1 against the best pass rushers on the other teams. they are both bad ass and its being completely wasted by the IOL getting embarrassed by lesser rushers inside. It is painfully visible to my amateur unskilled eyes that opponent DCs have fully diagnosed the Chargers' pass pro weakness is inside and if they just stunt their interior pass rushers around or send a blitzer there, or drop a DT while bringing a LB or S, the odds are good that on too many plays the IOL won't pick the shift up. This is not highest order defensive scheming - this are basic NFL defensive techniques that an IOL has to recognize. Its not every play - sometimes they pick it up, but its way too often for our Offense to be successful.

Maybe somebody should be sat down to make an accountability statement even if its not an improvement to the IOL? maybe a series? Idunno, all I see is our coaching staff watch the same shit happen game after game after game and not do anything about it, am I missing the genius subtleties at play here?

I don't think it's Greg Roman, blame OL coach Mike Devlin.

Note to Trader Joe: Before drafting or signing any IOL in the offseason, make REAL SURE u pick someone who is solid in pass pro AND has a proven track record of effectively picking up stunts...

          That's on the OL coach.

No, unfortunately, that's pretty spot on.

Devlin had some decent, winning seasons with the Texans and Ravens...it may just be a case of Boze and Pip (and sometimes Zion) just playing at a very low level that can't really be coached up...

Herbert has never had good OL. But his previous ones weren't this bad. They've added top 10 pick LT who is playing like an All Pro as a rookie, but the OL has regressed, with players such as Trey and Zion who've been Chargers for years. IMO, the new man to the equation is the OL coach.

Having 2 solid bookends you would think would be the hard part. Normally the interior guys are a unit that can work well together as long as they communicate. Other than all 3 blocking the same guy, they do not Win 1 v 1s and apparently they're all speaking different languages.

Plus, I'd much rather have Ekeler back there on pass pro than a rookie.

Hopefully playing next to a legit center helps.

Speaking of which, who the hell is going to be available???
Trey Smith from the Chiefs for one is available.

Also just need to see who else are cap cuts before free agency. Lions picked up Zeitler that way knowing they were going to lose the guy who went to the Rams

Hortiz HAS to focus on the offensive side of the ball for Herbert -- OL, WR, TE and RB.

I totally agree with this. My biggest complaint about Roman and Harbaugh is them sticking with these guys and not holding them accountable. Its the same fail week after week...
