I think more realistic than Smith is Becton, Banks and Hernandez as potential guard signings. I guess we get one of those 3.

I don't think the 2025 cap is set yet is it?1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Jenkins (OG- 12m)

No. ~ $275mil atm. Look for it in February, I believe. Prior to start of free agency obviously.1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree

I've said in previous posts that they might sign as many as 2 qualifying free agents, but that might be the limit in terms of how much money they have to spend on big contracts anyway, they will still set aside some of that available money to extend their own guys, plus Hortiz is always going to work the 3rd wave free agency after the draft, it's a Raven staple and we already got a dose of it last year, I think it's going to be more of the same with the exception of one or two big signings in qualified free agent market...my guess is that people expecting a bunch of high priced free agent signings are going to be disappointed this offseason, they are going to continue to look at guys that became cap casualty cuts because they don't hit the comp formula and they're going to look at guys later after the draft for that same reason too...Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post
I think Hortiz will take advantage of getting comp picks where it makes sense. I also think he will say "screw it" if he can help the team more.
This is what the Ravens do, they occasionally sign a guy like Henry in free agency but they always find a way to score comp picks, I expect the same from Hortiz...."The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. no it's not and if the last two cap increases are any indication, it'll be more than projected again due to the record gambling profits that the NFL is reaping right now...which means that the Chargers might have an extra 10-15 mil to play with that nobody is talking about right now...Originally posted by Chargers8491 View PostI don't think the 2025 cap is set yet is it?"The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. They are because it is completely unrealistic to think in a tight a market as there is for them to accept backloaded contracts. the days of the backloaded contracts with huge portion of the money at the end is dying fairly fast. And there is a lot of demand for players of their caliber, unless the gaureentee part drives the AAV to something like $30 mill+, with a big fraction of it being guaranteed?Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post
The numbers for Higgins and Smirth aren't too low because they are cap numbers - not AAV.

Yeah, that is kinda what I was thinking. Last year it jumped like 10mil I think. I think the Chargers are going to have more cap space then we think which makes a couple of these high priced FA's more of a reality.Originally posted by Fouts2herbert View Post

Everyone gets the same cap bump. Players will just sign for more than projected if the cap goes up by more than projected.Originally posted by Chargers8491 View Post

I would not touch Hernandez, not much better than Salyer IMO, Banks I thought was decent coming out of college, but I haven't followed his development with the 49ers, Becton is a guy that comes with some risk, work ethic was questioned in NY and he's had a lot of injuries in his short career...Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View Post
