Oh World is no guarentee for sure, but a decent bet on talent as a UDFA to throw into the mix. Again this guy was a likely day 2 pick without the late injury, not a UDFA. So think of him as a 3rd round pick under normal circumstances. Chargers just had two 6th round linemen and a UDFA make their 53.
World can learn and when he comes to camp next year it will be well over a year since his ACL. A good project to throw into the mix. I don't expect All Pro but maybe a solid swing tackle, maybe more, maybe less...who knows
I like the bet though.
I get all that, just a skeptic but as a UDFA a good roll of the dice.
A guy last year (2025 draft) that was hyped I didn't care for ,...Edge Mykel Williams went high,.....didn't do much and got hurt. Haven't heard his name since. Might still be rehabbing but I don't know. Think he is on the Niners
So getting World at a bargain is no loss If he don't pan out. If he does... .awesome for us.
Indy ran at will, which opened up the pass..... Chargers loaded the box but could not stop their big fast RB.... they are still trying to tackle him!....lol
The point is that last years defense struggled to stop the run.... especially in short yardage situations....
I believe will be much better this year, with improved DL play....
I maintain that our poor defensive showings (at times, not an excuse for every defensive letdown) were the direct result of our pathetic offensive efforts (Thanks, GrO). Our poor D barely had time to inhale some Gatorade before they were marched on the field again. With just an average offense, our D would have been stellar. The future now looks bright now, my friends. A defense & an offense.

Reason: Clarification
I said this yesterday, but someone said he got the settlement. Usually UDFAs that are Waived/Injured get a settlement, but not draftees. Even though he wasn't that effective last season, and was limited in the Preseason, he should get one more chance.
So who got cut from that initial PS after Kaiir Elam and Patrick Herbert were added? I recall that there were 16 initially on the PS but one player was that Intl. player so there was still room for one more but not for two!

Yeah, my bad. I thought for sure it was a settlement and he was gone
Unless the GAC guys are right about the personality and how he is in the locker room - him being on IR this year was always best case scenario for him. He gets a half million bucks but another year to learn and grow
I'm an AJ guy and was all for getting rid of Marty. I just wasn't big on the Norv hire.
Gates and Dielman happened under his watch…cam Cameron was the Dielman connection there was another staffer who connected us with gates, Antonio wanted to be a steeler but cheap as Steelers didn’t offer the money AJ did

Thanks but I was wondering if there was an official new list which I could not find any where on my own. The younger Herbert is an interesting choice because reportedly Patrick had other suitors but he wanted to be with his superstar older brother. I have seen some flashes from Patrick Herbert showing that he was a very good blocker in college but there is not much more on him and I certainly hope that nepotism and proximity were not the primary factors. Who knows maybe they will keep both TEs P. Herbert and Svobodal on the PS and finally show Matlock the door.
Last updated: 8/8/2026 Kaiir Elam is a cornerback for the Los Angeles Chargers who earned a 56.8 overall PFF defensive grade in the 2025 season, 80th among 114 qualified cornerbacks. His PFF coverage grade of 56.3 ranked 83rd among 114 qualified cornerbacks. His run-defense grade of 55.5 ranked 77th at the position.
Elan is intriguing. He has started a few games and he was outstanding in college. I think Buffalo? Took him high in the draft. Just seems to have never put it together and bounced around. Perfect for practice squad. If Clink cannot unlock him no one can

Our D was 9th overall and could easily be much better this year. The O should be massively better.
