If they had paid Zion Johnson instead of letting him walk, we wouldn't have this problem at LG. Johnson was the best OL on a bad OL last season. He is at least competent, maybe a little above that. They had the money to pay him.

Awosika is on a 1 year $2M contract. Zion's contract is paying him $16.5M. That is a lot more money, but is the OL really where they want to skimp?

Ironically, Johnson graded out with a 60.5 score vs the Jags while Awosika graded out at 73.6. Since Pipkins graded out at 47.5 it is baffling to me why the coaches kept the stupid rotation up.

It seems like Hortiz has taken the attitude that we are going to try and retain every player on the team and add a few journeymen here and there.

Resigning one of the best safeties in the league is a no brainer to me. I would not argue that we did not address the guard position adequately.

Awosika was fine 0 pressures 0 sacks...highest grade on OL of 85 Alt and Slater were in the 70s

And how about RG. LIke I said all off season Cole Strange sucks. He gave up a team high 5 pressures and had a ridiculous PFF grade of 10.6

Money said in his post-game vid that he thought Awosika played well, he didn't understand the platoon approach, and while he felt Pipkins didn't play badly over all, his man beat him and blew up the 4th down play at the goal line.

We'll see. We just got to hope this last game was a mirage like the last time we played the Cardinals.

A convincing win against the Raiders could do a whole lot to put us on track.

If our D plays like that again and we lose to the Raiders we could be cooked.

10-7 ain't over. Losing more than 7 is probably the death knell for post season hopes.

McD has the wherewithal to use the TEs in absence of Ladd. He may have to divest himself from his Ingold though as Alec didn't show me much yesterday. I don't want to say it but I will have to, the next home game hosting the Raiders will shape the rest of our entire remaining season.

With 3 TEs who are good receivers (Kolar still unproven though) and a good running game, you can build an offense that stays ahead of the sticks, doesn't rely on big plays down the field, wears down the opposing defense, rests your defense, and has good red zone targets.

Still I always expect James to play the same way Seau always did. He didn't have a Derwin James game yesterday. If he's not playing well it's hard to have dominant games and convincing wins.

The Pipkins rotation thing is just pure bad coaching, plain and simple. Harbaugh needs to wake up.

Not only is Awosika a better guard than Pipkins (we already knew Trey is only useful at back up right tackle) but you have a revolving door beside a rookie center and any good OL needs to build cohesion by playing together.

Just ridiculous. Even more so when you remind yourself they had 100 million.
