Am I wrong to think this? And, who do you think are the best candidates to join the Chargers at TE?

Bonus question. If they do bring in veteran TE help, will they cut Smartt and go with 3 TE or will they roster 4 TE and cut one of the WRs? (or IR Chark?)
    I'd like Isaiah Likely

Stick has never won an NFL regular game. Heineke has won 13.
I bring facts, you bring supposition, like big shots, big throws, big games...the numbers may not tell the whole story, but they dont lie. At best, you just traded a D QB2 for D+ QB2...which is fine...I just dont get the excitement...hell, reading you guys, I got excited...so I looked him up to see what he has done lately...uh...not much.

Tyler Booker G, Josaiah Stewart Edge, Cam Skattebo RB, Mitchell Evans TE, Jamaree Caldwell NT, Isaac TeSlaa WR, Ahmed Hassanein DE, Craig Woodson S, Eli Cox C, Kalel Mullings RB

Sleeper day 3 pick: Tahj Brooks RB Texas Tech

I'd love it, but I don't think it's likely Hortiz could pry him loose from the Ravens. He's their #2 TE behind Mark Andrews, who spent most of last season on IR.

I'm thinking that they need 4 TEs, Hurst has had injury concerns his whole career...

You know, Vokek was just ok. He just had the one good drive in the playoffs. He only had 44 pass atts with us for 56.8% . 1 TD and 2 INTs.

I get it, fans take one thing and he played so little that's all they remember but really, he was average with us.

That playoff game was 2007 and a great win.

During that season he was 3 for 10 and a INT. But he was 3 for 4 and led a drive that mattered.
But best backup ever? Rivers was a backup for 2 seasons. Brees was a backup. Flutie was a backup as was Harbaugh for Leaf.

WOW, I guess you really like Easton, you still think that he's QB2 material...

And I trust Jim n Joe...they felt a move was needed...

And every other move they made, and their overall approach has me grinning ear to ear...

BUT....why is everyone acting like Heineke is a master stroke, and QB depth savior?

Both him and Stick played 5 games last year.

Stick completion percentage was 63.8, Heineke 54.4
                  Stick was 3/1 TD/Int, Heineke 5/4
Stick rating was 85.6, Heineke was 74.7

Stick did take 14 sks to Heineke 8
                  Both averaged 6.5 yds/att

                  Both guys fair runners

Heineke had some OK years in Washington...but big issue taking care of the ball, even if he is the better arm talent.

Heineke didnt wow this preseason, either.

Where again is this huge upgrade? This is what everyone was clamoring for?

Well...I like 99 out of every 100 moves this new regime has made...thats good enough for me, lol
sorry but you have to open your eyes.... Stick has sucked every time he has played.... his passes are extremelyu inacccurate.... even the short ones!!!

stats can be deceiving..... the last game stick threw 2 passes directly to dallas defenders who dropped the passes.... and the rev=ceivers were wide open but Stick missed them BADLEY
Stick has zero field vision...zero instincts and melted down this pre season when he was told for the forast time that he was playing for his job..... the cloe ups of his face showe he cannot handle the stress of being a starting QB! .... so galds we finally added an NFL QB to be our backup... if you watch Hwineke's highlight video, Stick has NEVER ever made those kind of passes.....

Fouts was a backup too, to Johnny U. I guess I should've clarified backup signed to be a backup not a starter. Though Flutie might have been the best. The thing about Volek though, he was Rivers' backup for five seasons. I'm hoping Heinicke can be that for Rivers. It's really beneficial to have a backup stay on the roster long term.

Could it be that GRo is going to predominantly run a slightly different offense than what we expect ?

All our RBs are decent in pass pro.

                        I am thinking eleven personnel.
                        1 RB.
                        1 TE.
                        3 WRs.
                        Elite bookend OTs.

A fully healed Herbert can occasionally be our 2nd RB on the field.
                        We play modern Harball.
