The entire interior of the OL needs to be GONE next year.

Zion - another TT disappointment of a pick at guard.

Did this guy ever draft/sign a SINGLE decent OG???? What a disaster the interior is.

Honestly at this point you probably just need to run the ball as much as possible to limit injury to Herbert and get through to the end of the year so that he doesn't pull an Andrew Luck and just say I quit...

So what's the running tally at this point? We need: 2 new OGs, center, WR1, TE1, 2 edge players to replace Bosa/Mack, more LB depth so guys like Dye don't need to play, secondary depth, punter.

Sounds like our shopping list every year!

To me, this speaks to coaching/system/scheme. To be clear, this is not a knock on Harbaugh, but specifically Roman.

Do we think Roman is going to suddenly become a great OC as the year goes on? He's been fired from every other job for the same exact reasons.

Unfortunately Jim will be ultra loyal to his good friend, to our detriment.
We were 2-0 and handling the Steelers just fine before the injuries to Slater and Alt.

      To me, its not coaching.

      Its talent...

IMHO the coaching masked the lack of talent and the injuries took the mask off.

I don't think anyone was expecting 30 points here

To be fair, Chiefs have given up points on every opening drive this season - Chargers added to that statistic today

Aside from that the offense only came away with 3 points off a turnover in good field position. Injuries or not, 10 points in each of the last 2 games while winning the turnover battle is far from great.

You can move the football with Herbert and a bad Oline .... but then they had Mdub, keenan and the great Tbilly.
Mdub was a non-factor that year. Barely targeted. It was moreso Allen, Guyton and TBilly mostly with the TE mixed in.

2 and 2 at the bye is excatly what Staley would have done and did when he was here. Beat the 2 bad teams on the schedule and lose to the two good teams on the schedule. Same old so far.

What concerns me is how pathetic the offence is under the new regime. You can love to run the ball, but turning Justin Herbert into the QB with the least passing yards of 32 starting QBs in the NFL is really fucked up

Really all this team needs is an oline. The defense is fine. It will continue to get better. The oline is kill the offense especially with the dumb penalties. They can't protect Herbert to save their lives. Which kind of sucks since that is what Harbaugh preached all season. I hope they totally retool this whole oline next year unless the group gets better. Herbert just like he has no confident and is expecting to get hit when he drops back.
Time to put my money where my mouth is: Hampton will be better than Jeanty!

You know it's weird, the first drive involved many play designs that are supposed to throw the pass rushers off balance. And they did. And then the rest of the game was spent having Herbert drop back and hopefully dodge one of the pass rushers sprinting at him.

So I ask again. Why did he not call screens after the first drive? Why?!
The first drive was scripted, and Roman falls apart after that unless his run game schemes work out.

That’s some friendly fire Mahomes you gotta get out the way. And let that play play. Rice changes their whole offense you can see that.

so they won’t be the same team.

I actually do think that having a capable center is foundational to the success of the entire oline and offense. Going back to Rivers and now to Herbert, whenever we've had any kind of success we usually had a standout center.

Anytime Hardwick went out and when he retired, our team, QB and offense in general regressed. Same thing with Corey Linsley. We've been absolutely terrible without a good center or an injured center the last 20 or so years.

You're totally ignoring the fact we have an entirely new offense built with rookies and players acquired with no cap space... If Horitz didn't hit on Alt and Dobbins we would be 1-3 going into the bye.
