Vs Atlanta the run didn't work because they quit. Gus and Vidal were gaining over 4 ypc.

Lets take a closer look at what actually happened.

1st half runs of 2, 0, 2, 3, 3, 16, 9 The passing to Ladd was working. But we had penalties and sacks that ruined drives.

2nd half runs of 1, 3, 12, 3 yards. Herbert under constant pressure, resumed issues of sacks and penalties that ruined drives.

TOP Alt 36 min, Chargers 24 But much worse in the 2nd half.

Total yards 57 on 17 attempts (one by Herbert of 2 yards)

Looks inconsistent and trouble with the O line to me. Now to be fair Herbert is taking some sacks from holding on to the ball
instead of throwing into coverage due to no separation by our WR and TE. But the penalties and running game are not
helping him.

I know it wasn't a consensus expectation but we had top players in the 3 most important positions. QB, LT and Edge. and the fruit of last year's 5-12 result. An easy schedule.
Add Harbaugh, Hortiz, a great staff, a generous owner, and a great draft, why the hell not?
