I have been following this for many years - meaning snaps by age. And if you take away long snapper, punter and kicker - by and large, teams that are younger, do better. Of course there are outliers but its why hitting on the draft every year - 5 to 6 players between the draft and UDFAs is so important.
Now the Chargers this offseason - older players -
Bosa might be one of the older players signed for next year
Mack is a free agent to be as are players like like Hurst, Perryman, Bozeman
I don't count the long snapper.
So the Chargers probably will continue to be a pretty young team. Hence, why I think the idea of keeping both Bosa and Mack is not realistic. Both are slowing down and you will be paying for what they did and not what they can do. That said, a guy like Mack, limit his in-season snaps - would have value

I don't know if or how much smoke is getting down to The Bolt though. I have a friend in Pasadena, said its thick there, but they have the Eaton fire just above them and headed their way.
Prayers to any of our TPB brothers and sisters in the LA area, may you and your families all be protected from harm, and if lucky, any property damage as well. Think safety first at all times, stuff can be replaced but you can't.

That is not to say don't sign veterans but I think they should be looking at players that will at worst plateau over the next 3-4 years. Signing MW or Allen, bringing back Mack and Bosa - thats nostalgia.
The Vikings had a LB or DE named Van Garfink or Garfinkel or something - that kid is a baller. The Ravens, good drafted, there edge kid named Oweh or something. Hortiz needs to draft the next type of that player.
The Chargers have QB, LT, RT, LB, a couple WRs, still have Derwin James, Hanley, two young CBs in Hart and Still -- no need to back to the past

They have a lot of draft capital that will allow Hortiz to move up or back. Maybe Hortiz does another trade like McConkey - still gets a draft pick but just a lower round while getting a guy he wants

They have to decide on Bosa before the draft - will be interesting to see what they do.“Less is more? NO NO NO - MORE is MORE!”

The difference between them and Mack is that Mack had a good 2024 season and he gives 110% to his team with every breath he takes. Edge is in the top cluster of priority positions, team needs to get younger there. WR they will figure out - a Day 2 pick won't surprise me.
