We have lots of wild fires in British Columbia every year now....crews are pretty prepared and we have tons of water up here....but last couple of years the fires have been 2000-3000 per year in number. That is just one province, not the rest of Canada. It is hard to keep up with.

    Global warming is a thing

Heartfelt best wishes to all Bolt fam in the LA area

Is QJ still sick? How is Palmer's foot?

I don't think we win this game without a healthy QJ.

Rare events can't be prevented. These events are not as rare as being said though. They are regular to the point of literally being seasonal alerts and warnings every single year and in that sense the top priority of public policy should be to prepare for and mitigate the severity and breadth of events as much as possible. I'll stop there, folks here don't like politics, i will only say people should not blindly accept climate change as an excuse for everything they see.
Malibu has fires on a regular basis. But the rows of houses along the PCH haven't burned like this before. Pockets in Malibu sure but not strings of homes along PCH. Palisades hasn't been devastated like this before either. Worst fires in LA history. That's not a controversial statement

Need QJ. Otherwise it seems like Ladd, Chark, DD and Fehoko?

Palmer has been a DNP so don't know if we can expect him to play

Yeah I'm not expecting him , either. Which is a bummer, he is usually clutch in big moments.

It's a compliment to QJ that he has come so far that the team literally depends on him to win a crucial game. Feeling less bullish on our chances as the week goes on. Is the final practice today? Will it even happen with the air quality?

That one-handed grab and secure by Q was a pivot point in our offense.
initially I was upset that Herbert trusted him with that throw (Q was covered too).
but that just shows the determination of Herbert in not giving up on Q and what he apparently sees in practice.
Q's development is inspiring, I would have bet against it.
Cant proclaim that we're "there" yet, but it's looking promising.
kudos to Herbert, Q and Roman, Lal, etc.

Have to see if he practices today -- but I think he was sick and not injured

So maybe QJ can still play Saturday. Give him some IVs and fluids and all that stuff - get him on the field

Without Palmer - really need QJ

The fires today, becoming more intense (remember Canada last year, Australia) along with stronger hurricanes that go from a cat 1- 4 almost overnight) are directly related to global warming. The planet in 2024 was the warmest on record. The oceans are warmer, Less rain in the West, stronger Santa Ana winds are all related to it.

Climate change has been a key factor in increasing the risk and extent of wildfires in the Western United States. Wildfire risk depends on a number of factors, including temperature, soil moisture, and the presence of trees, shrubs, and other potential fuel. All these factors have strong direct or indirect ties to climate variability and climate change. Climate change enhances the drying of organic matter in forests (the material that burns and spreads wildfire), and has doubled the number of large fires between 1984 and 2015 in the western United States.

Research shows that changes in climate create warmer, drier conditions. Increased drought, and a longer fire season are boosting these increases in wildfire risk. For much of the U.S. West, projections show that an average annual 1 degree C temperature increase would increase the median burned area per year as much as 600 percent in some types of forests. In the Southeastern United States modeling suggests increased fire risk and a longer fire season, with at least a 30 percent increase from 2011 in the area burned by lightning-ignited wildfire by 2060.
If California responsibly managed their forests and brush, the fires would not faintly be close to as bad as they are. Period.

Please, let's not let this thread devolve into a political argument. This board is not the place to debate these issues. Thank you.

Agreed. Stinky started a thread for those who might be affected by the fires, but political arguments aren't helpful for those in distress, or even just wanting a break from the bad news.

this is what I expect (is it just hope?). It could be worse than imagined, but I suspect he's sick and by day 4 he may not feel great but I'll be the team can get IV'd and "dayquilled" up enough to play a game and he'll want to play. Probably reduce his pitch count some

Love your avatar... haven't seen that gif in forever.

Just passing by to say hi... looking forward to the game Saturday, I'll be rooting for the other guys. Nothing against the Chargers, love your coach, your QB, your defense, your colors... kinda wish ya stayed in San Diego. But somebody has to lose.

There's no reason for any of us in H-Town to believe we're going to win this game. But I'm a fanatic so... it's what we do. Our defense has been able to level the playing field for us. Our offense seems to have been crippled all season long. Something's not right with Cj. One glimmer of hope, when he sat out the remainder of our last game it looked like he was having fun. So I'm hoping he gets back to having fun when he's playing. If that happens, it's over.

Looking for a good game, no injuries, & hoping you win your division next season.
